I seriously get so excited when I see people just offer to host an activity or chat!!! WTG!
I moved this thread into the Events>Swaps forum so everyone can find it there. Sounds like fun!

i'm game to start soon. i was just giving people a little more time to sign up. we need an even number of people unless one of you wants to do 2 layouts since we're presently an odd number (of course that does mean you could pass out photos for 2 layouts!).
how about we close this tomorrow the 13th, and i'll split out the list then?

Sempson, MsMac and Photomama said they would play . . . I mentioned it when we were in the chat room tonight. Although Sempson (Steff) is worried that she's not good enough and the other person wouldn't like her layout. To which we all said, "HA!" She does great work! Anyway, it's hard to find threads, so I thought I'd post this and PM them as a reminder.

Hi all,
Well photomama and I would really like to swap photo's. We are very new and are afraid we are not good enough yet. So the 2 newbies are going to try each others if that is ok.

Here is the layout I did for Stacey (Jewel68). Stacey, the pictures you sent me are just wonderful, what a delight to design a layout about your sweet little girl. I was more nervous than I expected I would be, I sure hope the layout lives up to your wonderful photos. I took a few liberties with the journaling, condensing it a little to fit the layout. I hope it didn't change the 'flavor' of what you were trying to say.

If one is good, two is better, right? :) This is a second layout I did for Stacey, just because her pictures were so cute! Little Alannah had such a peaceful look in these photos that it brought to mind the scripture verse from Proverbs; "A heart at peace gives life to the body."

mandy,
wait a couple weeks, and start a july thread. there's is about 5 minutes work involved with doing a swap like this. you just start the thread, wait til you get a group size you like (for me it was 10), match people up, post the matches, and watch what people create!

Yes, I love swapping photos too! I adore Debb (keeplearning) and this is the layout (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=39912&cat=501) I made for her. :)

The first layout I did was paper-style, and I wanted to do one in graphic-style too, so here it is (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=39959&cat=500&page=1)!
No journaling or elements, just one adorable kid with an amazing smile to brighten your day!

I'll sign up for July's when that gets started. I'm fairly new to this, though -even though I can make a lot of the elements I am mostly using page kits to get comfortable. There are a couple of layouts in my gallery you can check to see if I qualify for a swap.
I have a suggestion about it having to be even numbers: Why not give person A's pics to person B, who gives hers to person C, who gets person A's? (for any number) I've done that with a global pressie swap.
Or, with a small group, give everyone the pics. Has that worked in the past? Say, a group of four, so we'd each make three layouts, one for each of the other participants?
Do we ever have alphaset swaps? That is my strong suit. I can make the other stuff but have trouble coming up with ideas (so far; but I'm sure that will change after a little time here).
Or, what about a swap where a color scheme is posted, and one person makes the alpha, one the papers, one the tags, one the extras, one a plopper when it's done, etc. Then everyone gets everything in the page kit.
Bah. This has probably been discussed to death somewhere else. I just have to go find it. This is a huge place.

elisabeth,
it sounds like you have some great swap ideas. i'm new to this swap stuff.
honestly the reason i started this swap was because i had photos i couldn't turn into a layout, and i finally decided the right solution was to give them to someone else.
DSP is very casual/comfortable with having members run events. why don't you host one? then you could guide me through some of your more interesting swap experiences that i haven't had yet! ;)
i don't even know what an alphaset swap is... :D

I just found another digital scrap site and it looks like they already had the idea of a bunch of people making a kit together. So I'm not as innovative as I thought, ha ha.
I have never done any scrap swaps. I've hosted and participated in global swaps including Christmas cards/birthday cards, secret Santa, secret Valentine, physical crafts and printable ones, and most recently, a music cd swap. It's fun to send stuff all over the world and get that much back. In the cd one I used my newfound scrap techniques to make the cd booklet, back, and label.
I don't think I will take on hosting one here just yet, but I will sign up when anyone posts the next swap of just about any kind here. I'll be glad to host something later in the summer or this fall, after I get a little more comfortable here.
