I'm wondering if anyone can clue me in on how to duplicate the Water Drops effect similiar to the one used on the cover of the new Making Memories special edition "Computer Scrapbooking?" (Purple rose layout)

I was able to get the rose image to an exceptable level by following the steps listed, but, they failed to list, or even mention, the Water Drop effect that really adds a nice touch to the image.

I did mess around with the water drop plug-in by Eye Candy 4000, but could NOT get it to look like the cover layout. Even though the drops were different sizes, they were all ROUND & I did not see a way to distort their shape.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

what programme are you using for your scrapping - there are many tutorials for water drops for photoshop ( along with downloadable layer styles in fact the glass pebble layer style included in this months club digital would make a great water drop

Thank you, Lauren for responding, & so quickly, too.

I'm using MS Digital Image Pro 9 (which can use some plug-ins), though I've only had it for a month or so. Prior to that, I was using MS Picture It. I do have Adobe Photo Shop Elements that I've messed around with a bit, and I have a limited version of Adobe Photo Shop that I can access.

Do you have a specific link to a water drop tutorial? Is "Water Drop" the correct description for doing a search?

I'm new to this website, so am not familiar with all its features yet. Is Club Digital on this website?

Thanks in advance for any tips you may have,
JavaJunky

Water droplet or Glass Pebble are common names for this. I have NO idea about anything in DIP, I'm a PS gal myself, and I would have to spend some time playing to make one in PSP or PSE.

About.com in their graphicssoft section has glass pebblesn (to download, maybe a tutorial), so visit and see what DIP resources they have.

Tina and Amanda are the team members here who have a DIP clue, so hopefully they'll chime in and help. We also have several DIP mentors available through the university, just click on the Main Campus above under the U bullet to email for a mentor.

The Club Digital is in the Store here at DSP, but the glass pebble this month is a layer style specifically for PS. Everything else is is cross-platform pre-made graphics to be used in any program, but each month usually has a few program specific goodies.

Welcome to DSP and hth!

Lauren's 311 class for PS and my 361 class for PSE cover how to make water droplets/spatters now. In Lauren's she shows how make the shapes and the layer style, and in mine for PSE I show how to make the shapes and give a style to install to use for it. It's a cool effect!

We do water and glass effects in DSU331, the advanced PSP elements class, too.

DIP doesn't have blend modes, so it's gonna be a little harder to get the same effect in DIP. I have DIP9 and DIP2006, so maybe I can play around, along with Tina and Amanda, to see what's a possibility. I might be able to dig up Eye Candy 4000 and see if there's a way to distort the shapes of the drops, too.

JavaJunky, I just took a look at Eye Candy 4000 and saw that in the Water Drops dialog there's a checkbox labeled "Round Drops". Did you try unchecking that checkbox? Once you do that, play around with Drop Size and Coverage, and try different Random Seeds, to see if you can get the effect you're after.

HTH,
