Ok I have a new problem. The last few times I have tried to make a oage I get half way through and get microsoft runtime library error messages and PSP stops responding. What the heck is going on. Anyone know?It also is running super slow. My pc is pretty new and has 512 mb ram. I work in 200 dpi. I dont get it.

Ok, a few things to check.

1. Have you got your virus checking software up to date and scans done?

2. How much spare disk space do you have on your main drive, all sorts of odd things happen if your swap file drive gets full.

3. Has this started happening since you installed any new software or updates?

4. If you run just PSP do your get the problem or only when you have other programs running as well.

5. When did you last defragment your hard disk?

One thing that comes to mind-and you probably already know about this, but just in case . . .

When you open up your new document in PSP, make sure that you have pixels per inch and not pixels per cm. I know (through personal experience!) that one little thing can really slow things down!
Good luck!

You can also check your preferences -- I allow the undo, but limit it to fewer steps per image (and make sure I don't have a lot of things going on at once). Which version of PSP? Have you gone to JASC (now Corel) to check for updates? I know that v.8 updated to 8.1 via a download and v.9 has updated to 9.01 via a download.

I think Ive figured it out. I dont think im merging the layes often enough. Doesnt that free up some memory? I am running 9.01 also.

I had problems with v.8 on Windows 2000, but have not had any with 9.01 on Windows XP (or few) - usually when I do, I have too much open. I think, rather than merging layers, maybe save more often (saving in pspimage format saves your layers, but not the undos - so I sometimes save, close, and reopen if I've been at it awhile). Also, I have the autosave turned off (just remember to save often). If you continue to have problems, go to corel.com and go to the paint shop pro area -- I have emailed questions when it was still JASC and always got a reply and help. There might also be something on their web page or community area.
