I have that are you using xp? I think that is just a file xp & 2000pro use when you are viewing a folder and you select the Thumbnails view rather than a list view or details view....does that make sense?

i am using a mac.

so maybe that is why the .db is unfamiliar to me.

so, no, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

thanks for taking the time to reply though!

it's a database file, probably thumbs.db which usually sneaks into users with xp (so it could sneak into downloadable files automatically as well). it's harmless of course, just an irritating little file.
here's more info:

Very helpful info...is that similar to the pspbrwse file (I think that's how that looks) too?

In PSP you can go to the General Program Preferences and uncheck the place where it says "save browser files to disk" -- but both the thumbs.db and PSP's browser files cache information so when you go to a directory you see the thumbnails instantly instead of waiting for each one to load.
