View Full Version : Replace color command???

I read Adobe help on the replace color, and I followed the directions, but nothing happens. Specifically, when I adjust the fuzziness and I have the temporary mask showing in the preview window, and I have adjusted the hue, then I click OK. The bar moves up, (just like when I apply a filter), but then absolutely **nothing** changes. What am I doing wrong? Should I have something "selected?" Does it have anything to do with what color is in my foreground/background when I select Image>adjustments>replace color?
Marcy : )
no, you don't need to have anythin gselected, but you do need to have the right layer active where you'd like the color changed.

Marcy this is very mystifying............ every now and again I have had an image where I just cannot change the colour - maybe you have chosen one of these? What I'd do is to practice by using the marquee tool to drag out a shape, filling with say red, and using the command on this. Adjust the fuzziness slider till you see your shape selected in the preview window & if the preview square in the dialog box is checked you will see the colour change in your actual document as well, then just click OK.
I hope something gives you a clue to your problem because it is such a handy tool.

I don't know the color change command, but I've had problems with other commands in the past because whatever I wanted to change was part of a layer style, and not part of the layer. Meryl's suggestion to try the command out on something very simple and basic to make sure it is working is a good one. It isolates the command from what you are trying to work it on so you can figure out what is actually going wrong and whether you can fix it.

Hello! I wanted to pop in and say a huge thanks for the pointers and especially the practicing ideas! I have been hoping to have a chance to fool around with it and then post a reply. Alas remodeling, no shower, and daily letters to my son at boot camp have completely taken my extra time! As soon as I get a chance and have some brain cells available, I'm going to play!
