Hello everyone and welcome to the "Faithbook Challenge."

This new challenge is to help all of us out there who want to pass on a legacy of our faith to future generations and make sure our faith stories are shared, remembered and celebrated.

I'm a Christian so many of my questions or resources will mention Christianity. However, if you are of a different faith, please don't let that deter you! I would love to hear from people of every faith. Just substitute the name of your religion/faith whenever I write "Christian" or "Christianity." If you have suggestions for challenges that pertain specifically to your faith, please share them with me and I'll include them where appropriate.

In the next few weeks, I'll be sharing some details on WHY sharing your journey of faith is important (I promise, it is more than just "spiritualizing your favorite hobby").

Each month I'll post a challenge. You can upload your layouts in our Faithbook Challenge Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1120). Obviously, your journaling is going to be the key element in each of these pages so make sure you spend adequate time writing! In my opinion, the stories in such a scrapbook are far more important than the artistic elements.

This month's challenge: Share the story of how you became a Christian (or Muslim, Buddhist, etc.).
Things to consider sharing:
*What was your life like before you made a faith commitment?
*How old were you?
*Was it a slow, gradual process or did you have an "AHHA" experience
(or a little of both)?
*What got you interested in your particular faith?
*What convinced you?
*Were there people who influenced you in this decision? How so and in
what ways?
*Was there a defining moment of commitment? (a special prayer,
ceremony, decision in your heart, or ???)
*How did you feel right before you made the commitment?
*How did you feel after?

If you are a Christian, you should seriously consider including the "gospel basics" in your testimony so that others who read your story will be exposed to the basics of your faith. For help, I suggest using a wonderful tool by Campus Crusade for Christ: 5 Clicks to Sharing Your Faith (http://www.greatcom.org/5clicks/index.php)

Most of us probably don't have pictures from this event but you may want to consider including photos of you at the age when your conversion took place, photos of influential people, or photos of the location where you had a "defining moment." Please share your ideas of photos that others could include!

I think that is is for now. Welcome to this challenge! I hope it will be a meaningful experience for you.

Wonderful idea. I am a Christian that celebrates my Jewish roots. Not my creation, but a picture that has always inspired me.

I just went to read your blog at Myspace. My gosh Starla!!! I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that! How scary! How are you feeling now? Man... I was in the hospital a week and a half ago because of walking pneumonia and pleuritis, but I sure didn't have to go through THAT! Gotchyer back with the prayer, on the relationship too. Get 100% better! I know it's going to take a while to heal... so you TAKE CARE of yourself.

prayers are winging your way Starla, I am told that pancreatitis is one of the most painful of illnesses. My DH had it years ago and he was curled up in a ball and tears rolled down his face. I never thought to see him cry , big tough he man he is, but there he was bawling. My heart goes out to you for it is dreadfull to feel so sick and also to have so much more worry when the nursing procedures themself are so frightning and painful. That rotten person we picture with the horns( satan) has an awful lot to answer for doesn't he, for if he hadn't conned Eve and Adam there would be no sickness and death. He definately deserves whats coming for him.. and more.

Alright, here's this month's Faithbooking Challenge.

Share the STORY OF YOUR BAPTISM. If you have never been baptized, then create a layout about another "spiritual high" (i.e. a time you've felt very close to God) or about a special commitment you've made to God.

I love reading everyone's stories...they are so interesting and inspiring. I hope to see many new posts in the future!

Good luck!

Alright, I decided that this month I should be one of the first to post my layout(s), instead of one of the last!

The story of my baptism took four pages to tell...so here is the link to the first page (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=48099&cat=500&page=1). It's kind of long so I won't be offended if you don't read it all :) but I would appreciate feedback on the pages.

Here's the story of my baptism...not as long as Sue's, but always evidencing God's grace!

This is my baptism page. I cannot remember who was with me other than my husband and the minister and 6 others from the Church who were baptised in the pool that night. It was a common occurence for Churchs to book the indoor heated pool for private baptism ceremonys. This is my story of after.

First, let me apologize for slacking off on the Sept. Faithbook Challenge. I got so caught up in the NKOTB and DET contest that I never got around to actually posting a topic for September. What a slacker moderator!

Anyway, the Faithbook Challenge is back and this month (October), the challenge comes from a great idea Karen B suggested (thanks, Karen!):

Make a layout about 10 things you like/appreciate about God.

********

I'm going out of town for a week (to a conference on youth ministry of all things!) but when I come back, I PROMISE to post the info I previously mentioned about WHY making a faithbook is so important. Hopefully, that will convince more people to participate in this rewarding endeavor!

Hope you all are well and I'm looking forward to making more progress in my Faithbook.

I'm still trying to make my layout from last month's challenge. I'm trying to make a collage and it just isn't working out for me. It is coming though...eventually!

Alright, due to lack of interest and a flaky (ummm...how about "busy") moderator, this challenge is taking a hiatus until the new year. At that time, when the holiday rush is over, if there are any takers, I'll start up this challenge again...new and improved...and hopefully more consistent.

Feel free to continue to post layouts about your faith journey in our gallery. And if you are really looking for something to scrap this month...how about "What Christmas Means To Me." I remember the first Christmas after I became a Christian; when I started singing the carols, all of a sudden they meant something to me. It was like a lightbulb went off in my head!!!

Anyway, have a wonderful holiday season. If you are interested in this challenge, PM me so I'll know if we should restart or not!

Thanks everyone. I've loved reading your stories/seeing your pages.

Be on the look out for this challenge restarting sometime in the next week. If I can get it done before I leave to take our church's jr. highers to Winter Camp this weekend, I will!!! If not, it'll be up early next week.

And I think there will be a prize for all the participants this time too!!! :)

Hello all,
Been lurking for a few weeks, since my wife joined. Finally got the gumption to sign up for myself. I'm really looking forward to join in on the Faithbook Challenges.

I think this will be a great challenge for me as well. Something for me to create to pass on to my baby boy, as well as to take some time for me and get reconnected to my walk with God.

Looking forward to this getting kicked off! :)

I'm planning to work on all four Faithbook Challenges thus far, but here is something I just finished working on that I feel best fits in the Faithbook category. It evolved from a poem I wrote for an assignment in a college creative writing class about eight years ago. The assignment was to take a published poem and copy some part of it (stanza style, rhyme scheme, meter, etc. . ) as a way of studying poetry. We later took our re-write used that as a jumping board to write another poem and so on until we had an original piece.

The poem I chose had strong religious overtones, which I felt deeply about. I recently found it hiding on the hard drive of an old computer and reworked most of it to move away from it simply being a copy to something that had close personal meaning to me.

It ended up being a two page spread due to line length. Hope it touches you as it has me.

Page 1 (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=73777&cat=500&ppuser=41085)
Page 2 (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=73776&cat=500&ppuser=41085)

The poem text is in the Description Boxes of both pages.

God bless,
Dubya
