Does anybody know how to get a realistic stitching effect in DIP9? I downloaded a straight stitching element, but I wasn't too happy with the way it turned out (and it wasn't that straight, either!). Isn't there a way to get this effect through DIP9? Thanks for any help!

Just following up on this question also - as in my other post regarding lines, I'm wondering if i'm doing something wrong when I post because I've noticed that when I post a new message, the "new post" icon doesn't show up on the post's title in the forum list? Anyway, I'm still hoping someone can help me with this problem I'm having with stitching? Thanks so much!

Just thought I would let you know, I saw your post, but didn't respond because I have never used DIP9, and don't know how to answer your question. Hope someone who uses will see this!
Have a great day!
Not very many of us use DIP, so I always hope someone will answer your questions as I never have any clue of the answer! Did you send the link to your mentor so she can help you? Also, do you Google DIP tutorials online? I learn a ton of stuff from the internet for all my programs.
For stitching, see if there's a dashed line option when you draw a line, then add a texture and bevel effect to it. FWIW, straight stitching isn't straight. To make it look super real, each one should be slightly diagonal. If you have a machine, stitch a bit in some paper and have it for reference while scrapping.
Good luck!

Hi Emma,
Thanks for the info! I did google for the tutorials but the ones I found were the ones I already have. There just aren't as many tutorials for DIP as there are for PSP, PS, etc. Sometimes it's pretty frustrating. My mentor (who has taught me so much!!) uses the downloaded stitch element. Unfortunately, it just didn't give the effect I was looking for. Oh well, I'll keep trying. If you know of anybody well-versed in DIP9 who can help me out with this, can you let me know? Thanks so much again.

Draw a line, use the transparency brush set at 100 and erase bits to make it look like a dashed line. Then go into the effects and add some texture to it. You can then use a 3rd party plug-in like eyecandy and bevel it. You may also want to try eyecandy's fur filter. That's about as good as you get in DIP.

Thanks Amanda! I've got to get eye candy - I've heard so much about it and if it helps me with stitching, all the more reason to try it! :)

HI Amanda,
I tried what you suggested, but when I draw a line (add something>line) and I go into effects>transparency, I am not able to choose "transparency brush". Is there some other option?

Try doing the rectangle thing again instead of a line. I don't know why the transparency brush wont' work with a line. But it does work with a rectangle.

OK - I'll try it and let you know. Thanks so much for all of your help!
