View Full Version : Problems with embedded fonts in PDF files

I'm saving all of my digital LO's as PDF's and then burning them to CD to take to Kinkos for 11x17 printing.

I use a lot of different fonts and a few of them are not embedding into the PDF file so when I get them to Kinko's and put them on their computers, they don't recognize the fonts. Instead I get an icky pixilated font...yuck! I think the drop shadow I'm applying to the fonts is causing the problems.

Any pointers on how to get these fonts to embed so the other computer recognizes them?

Sounds to me like you need to rasterize the font layer before you convert to PDF, that way it's pixel info rather than vector font info.

ok....so can I still do that even though the file is already saved as a PDF? How do I do it?

This place is so awesome for advice!

I don't know how Kinkos work but when I take a LO to be printed I flatten or merge all layers & save as a .JPG & have never had any problems. Quicker too, at the printers.

YOu can't rasterize in Acrobat that I know of, though I have little experience with the full version. I agree with Meryl: just save it in a flattened format and put it on a CD or even back onto your photo card (find out from the printer which is most convenient and then do what's convenient for you too).

No reason they need to be messing with anything since you'll have it as a .jpg

Hi, You might want to check and see that your Acrobat Distiller is installed, this is what handles your postscript information, If you have full acrobat, this should be with the package, if you are saving a file right from Photoshop, Photoshop does not support postscript. Also There is another wonderful program that supports Photoshop and Illustrator files, its Adobe InDesign, this is one of the best page layout programs I have worked with in many years.
