crash with PSE

Hey all of you,

A question from a completely new addition to scrapbooking....
I have Photoshop Elements, but it crashes all the computer all the time - after only a short time working with photos... I don't know what to do!!!!
I have Windows XP on the computer and there is PLENTY of RAM available, so that's not the problem....
Any suggestions??
