Hi.

I'm Dawn and I need some advice/suggestions.

I'm a Mac user....is there a big split between Mac and PC users regarding digital scrapbooking as there is in the "real world"??? Just curios, that's all.

I have.....
Mac iBook with OS X Jaguar (the first cat!).

I'm (obviously) a newbie to "digital scrapbooking."

I have Photoshop CS (I know this program "well"), Acrobat 6 Standard (am learning this one), Pagemaker (which I know well) and InDesign (I don't know this program at all...but want/need to).

Originally, I had HOPED to do digital scrapbooking on InDesign, teaching myself the program as I go.

Is this a good idea?

I recall reading something about ?transparant pngs? and that this doesn't work in desktop publishing programs.

And from what I've read....isn't iRemember the ?only? scrapbooking tool for Macs...but it's for....Panther, right?...which means I'd have to upgrade my OS system (possible...but a HASSLE!!!)...and if I'm going to do that, I might as well jump to Tiger.

*sigh* I do hope there's a Mac "geek" out there in cyberspace...to "PC" people, this message could seem...odd.

And that's not all...I wonder about.

Clip art...??? Is that a big part of digital scrapbooking? Any recommendation on what to get? I'm only familiar with Art Explosion...and those CDs are BIG $$$$$$$$.

OK...that's all the ???s I have....for now.

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone "out there" could provide.

~Dawn

I am a Mac user, but have not graduated to 'geek' status yet. I use PSCS2 and just upgraded to Tiger, but I started digi-scrapping while still using OS9 and PS7 or 8...(i forget) I have limited experience using Freehand and Quark (which I do not like) so ALL my digi-scrapping is done using PSCS. I also do some photo restoration, so PSCS is my choice.

I've never purchased any clipart other than 3 Dover books I found in a mark-down bin at BN. There are gazillions of FREE elements, clip art, brushes, etc. that you can download from many talented and generous designers. I've also made some of my own elements using DINGS or scanning items or using pix I made with my digital camera.

Welcome to the wonderful world of digi-scrapping! You're gonna love it regarless of what software you use!

Most of us use Adobe Photoshop or Elements to scrap - so you should be just fine with that.
Take a look at our freebie gallery - you'll get plenty of scrapbooking graphics to get you going. And when you are ready for more - take a look in the store. :)
