So, I was all excited about my new DIP 10 purchase, right?

Well, I've been using it for a couple days, but hadn't tried to add text until today.

Guess what happens when I do that? The program errors and shuts down!!!!!!!! EVERY STINKIN TIME!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I uninstalled and reinstalled... same thing! ARGH!

Imagine *ME* not being able to add text!!!

I had already uninstalled DIP 9 too. Now I'll have to reinstall it and then argue with the store about taking back opened software. Fun.

:o OH NO!!!
That is awful Tina. I have been using DIP 10 and just love it, and never have a problem with the text insertion. I'm sure you got stuck with a bad disk and/or something didn't load right for you. Why not ask for another copy from the store, so you don't miss out on how much better this is than the older versions of Microsoft's picture it. It can use all the filters from psp and has many already in the program. It doesn't use hand made brushes (as far as I know so far) but you can make your own stamps that are used the same as brushes on layers.
I quite often can follow along in the chat room and figure out how to get the effects being taught by just applying filters and my own stamps(brushes) and adjusting them to get the same technique. It's so easy too! Please give it another try... with your wonderful talent I know we'll be seeing some amazing layouts done with DIP if you do! :)

I believe Microsoft has a 30 day return policy, check their website.

(PS - I've never had this problem with DIP10, so maybe a bad disk?)

Have you tried putting on all the windows updates etc.

MS software tends to assume all the fixes are on.

Also as its always text try reducing the number of installed fonts, just in case its something silly like a "bad" freeware font which DIP does not use, I am guessing DIP builds a font list when you add text for you to pick from.

Jane, my computer just came back from getting a new life (aka a new hard drive). The only fonts on my computer at the moment are CK fonts and the ones that came on the computer. They all worked fine in DIP 9.

I got a new copy today, however, my laptop is once again back for service (getting really annoyed at this point!!). Modem went bye bye ;)

Ok, it was just a thought, what about the windows updates. Is it possible the new hard drive has a base copy of the OS with out the updates?

ok, an update. It was a software issue from somewhere in my computer. Where? I dunno. Anyhoo, Word Perfect and Word Pad wouldn't work either. It was something Circuit City had screwed up when they replaced the hard drive (it had acted like that since I got it back from them). My brother (computer tech) fixed it. YAY!
