Gimme More Chats With Lauren

If you have a kit of mine ( Lauren) and you feel like it needs some more pieces- or perhaps a matching alpha - come join me in the chat room on Thursdays at 8pm ( for the time being ) and request some extras to that kit - by the following week I will have chosen one request and created that extras set which will be available free to all chat attendees.
Requests also taken by email but free extras kits only available to those who come join us in the chat room.
You can also request pieces to a kit here in the forum - I will post in this thread each week what extras I have made for the chat.

Oh no I just realised that this week I have a problem - its Hannahs last day at kindy and I have to be there till 12.30 my time which is 8.30pm - grrrrrrrrr- I will have to postpone our first chat till NEXT week - so these will start on the 18th August not the 11th. If I can fit one in before then I will post here - perhaps you could make suggestions on which kit you would like to see extras for for that first chat here in this forum

I would like to propose "Colour Me Blue". I used it here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=47693&cat=500&page=1) and found it to be lacking a tag. I think it could also use more papers. I bought it because I have an antique typewriter with some custom keys my great grandfather added to it, that I want to make a page for. So I love the alpha! I will use it for more heritage pages, with some less bright tones.


Gah. That sounds like it could be warped into a review of the product. Best get myself back to the store and do that.

I love the Brothers and Sons (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=738) kit, and I use it a lot, either all together or bits here and there. And I'd love to have a few more bits for it. I especially like the rusty words, and it'd be nice to have a whole rusty alpha like that. Also, a rusty, spiky-looking nail, to go along with the existing nail heads. I'm also thinking some kind of fiber, but of course it would have to be sort of masculine--like maybe a twisted wire or a twisted jute cord.

Lauren, I hope you still consider Colour Me Blue; I love that kit but it really needs a smidge more for flexibility. I can use other kit pieces, but I love your work in particular. (which is why this topic title caught my eye)

Lauren, in your quilt kit you have two amazing backgrounds, and I'm looking at the striped one. Could you separate all the elements on it - create 12x12 bgs in each pattern, elements with the stitching and frayed fabric, the stitched ric-rac?

It looks like there's two stripes, two polka dots, one paisley, two florals and then several stitching elements that I simply drool over. You know me and fabric . . . yummy!

I have another idea, Lauren, somewhat like Stacey's. This involves some of the edges in your Freebie Edge Pack, specifically the Victorian edge. This seems like a layered pattern to me--a very elaborate and, well, Victorian pattern over (or under) a corner design. I wonder whether you could un-layer and separate them so they could be used separately. I love this edge as is, but there are times I've wanted to use just the edge pattern without the corners.

And if you do choose to work on this and get on a roll, edge-making-wise, some more of those grunged-up edges would sure be nice, like the ones in these layouts. Savannah (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=45951&cat=500&page=1)

I just love these grungy edges, but in some programs, using grayscale masks isn't the easiest thing and you have to come up with all sorts of workarounds to make them look right.

OK, so the Edge Pack is a freebie and I probably should just appreciate anything I get for free (which I do :) ), but I'd be willing to pay for these extra bits, and probably others would, too.

I have to tell you the truth and say that the method in my madness here is to help increase store sales of my kits !!!- So adding to a freebie pack with more freebies wouldnt assist there!!-HOWEVER - I can always add edges to existing kits !!!!!!!- And I will do that!!!!!

My daughter was so beautiful the night of her Graduation dinner last November. ( not that she's not beautiful everyday lol) She said she had a really magic time so I think this was the apt kit to do it with. Well, I finally found everyone again. I was relying on the calendar and e-mail group reminders for the chats and those went bye-bye. I need to be better at reading the forums. When I checked this morning, sure enough, some of my subscriptions were for weekly, instead of daily, and I totally missed last week's activities. I will be looking for the Time-in-a-Bottle extras and bonus kits to hit the store.

I did notice, however, that Lauren did not include the chain saw so I could lop off the limbs on my family tree I don't want.

i went to the chat last night you had (nov 10 around 7:45) but then my computer messed up and i could not get back on the digitalscrapbookplace website. i tried and tried so i missed the rest of the chat. all i know is when i left everyone was idle for like an hour! we were trying to figure out what kit and some suggested the snow angels, friends4life etc. is there a way i can get the password. i dont know why i could not get back on the site.

It WAS frustrating to have the chat interrupted, but I am sure it will pick right up where it left off. The chat program Hello is a real boon when this happens. I was able to find out it was DSP and not my computer with the problem, and what was going on.

My choice for next kit is Denim'n'Lace, just in case anyone wants to look at it.

Lauren, I am so upset for many reasons... I spent about an hour trying to get in for the crop last night. Well after trying so hard last night, soon after we got a call that my mother-in-law had an accident, we will be at the hospital most of the day today and tonight. Did the chat ever work out on Friday nite? I not only couldn't get into the chat Thursday but then couldn't get into the web site at all... Didn't realize until today that it was rescheduled. I am having trouble with a lot of things on this web site all of a sudden. When there is a link in someone's layout or in a forum to a kit to buy and I click on that link I always get a "sorry can't find that". I can't get into the freebie gallery at all and other odd things are happening. Is this happening to everyone?

i get the same thing. every time i try to get into the chats, i get a "error" message. and just like you, sometimes i cant get on the website at all. i hate this because its making me miss all the chats. i dont know what to do about it, and i honestly dont think there is anything you can do.

We have been experiencing some server difficulties and tech support has been busy working on it - however we did reschedule - the downtimes have been quite short periods of time so its always wise to refresh your screen if you get an error message -I will always reschedule and post times here in the forum and on the home page if there is an issue so those places are the best places to check .You can check out the layouts created by the 30+ people who came to the chat in the gallery ( I exended the deadline till Sunday midnight to complete the layout so if you missed out on the password you can still purchase the xtras kit from the store , or just even post a layout using the main kit only this time to get the bonus for free)

Of course I want you all to come to the chat anyway to help decide what kit we will work with the following week and what extras you want for it - some weeks we may even create an entirely new kit and freebies based on your suggestions.

Can someone please tell me.... are you suppose to make a layout with the main kit before the crop or is it done during the crop? I have never attended one of Lauren's crops yet...So not sure how it all works... Glad you are feeling up to returning Lauren:)

You can create your layout before or after - usually not during - you have until the sunday following the crop - some people want to use the freebie ( alpha in this case ) so they need to wait till after the crop

Just checking back to see how you were and I AM SO EXCITED! Thank goodness I didn't already miss one! No disappointment with this Bling! kit. Gotta have every bit of it. My little granddaughter is Bling Princess of this region and I am still a Bling Princess myself at heart. At heart? What am I saying? We're out of the closet.
