I rec'd and email from Corel today saying that a new version of PSP is available. What do I do now??! I've been using PSE3 exclusively for the past few months and my PSP9 has been sitting idle. Does anyone know anything about this new PSP? It's already a great program, but it looks like they've made a few improvementssupposed to be faster and has a new RAW processing package. Help me decide if I need to upgrade.

Thanks!

I'm going to order it - I want to use RAW when I get my new camera, plus I like all the photo editing stuff you can do. I just need to check my system to make sure I have all the requirements!

alREADY?! I JUST paid $50 for PSP9! What are they trying to do? LOL! I can't imagine it's much of an upgrade since 9 came out. If I still had 8 I'd definitely upgrade. I think I'll wait until/if I ever write another PSP class. I was just getting ready to update mine with PSP9 stuff and now THIS?! Sheesh!

Am I the only one who hates all these frequent upgrades? As a teacher it's so much pressure to stay up on all versions and keep the classes current, yet old for previous versions and...well, you get my drift :)

Any major advancements over 9 for those of you who will get it?

I would not be too anxious to purchase this new version. I understand it has not be beta tested!

I agree with Emma, I don't like all these upgrades, one barely gets it and adds new stuff to it and they upgrade. I guess it's business and that's all about money!

Another thought I just had abbout this-isn't this the first real upgrade since Corel took over? Wonder if that will make a difference. I purchaced PSP9 around Christmas time and I don't remember if it came from Jasc or Corel.

I upgraded from 7 to 9 back in Feb. The software has Jasc written all over it.

I wonder if Corel added a couple bells & whistles & released a new version just so they could have a product with their name on it on the shelves? It would't be the first time a software company has done that.

I'd recommend holding off getting it for now, especially if you haven't been using your PSP9. I usually skip a release unless the new version does something really spectacular.

FWIW..PSPX was/is/has been beta tested, it just did not have a "public" beta testing period like the JASC owned PSP's did. Corel is not JASC and JASC was one of the few who did such intensive public beta testing of a product!!
PSPX will not affect your other stuff that you have added to your other versions, PSPX should remain a completely stand-alone program so you can run 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and X on your computer if you wish to and they will not affect the other versions.

I think I'll wait too, but two things intrigued me - the one-step red eye removal (I LOATHE the current tool and often open up Picture It! to use theirs rather than use PSP's) and the fact that they say it's up to 50% faster (specifically 30% faster loading time). Those two things aren't worth $60 to me, though, so I'll be hanging in waiting for the next upgrade.

I am going to wait. I'm not sure the upgrades warrant the price. I would at least like to download a demo version before I part with the $$$.

I bought it today! I have PSP8, not 9 and was willing to pay the price for the upgrade. I don't think I would have gone from 9 to X though.

I bought it right away!! (when I got the email) -- Corel has purchased since v.9!! And Corel has always had a good program. The "up to 50% faster got me as PSP has been slow sometimes -- PSP9 already supported RAW photos, but the RAW workflow package sounds great. Also liked the offer of Photo Album 6. I'm actually quite anxious -- Paint Shop Pro has been my choice -- and with Corel kicking in -- it's gotta be awesome.

So for now, I'd say "no, I'm not upset that there is an update already!" The reduced price was quite inviting - especially with the extras!! And it doesn't surprise me a bit that Corel has offered an upgrade -- there are so many things that Corel 3 did MANY years ago -- like text on a path and vector graphics -- that PSP has only recently tackled. The combination has to be awesome.
