View Full Version : to Print or not to Print?
My sister had a great idea for me tonight. She said I'm doing my kids an injustice not printing my layouts. Even if I do DVD slide shows, the kids love having their books to look through. She suggested I go get just some 4x6 versions of all my layouts printed (it's about 14 cents a print), and buy a little album for them.
I have to report back my amazement, she says, when I break that thing out at church and let it keep them busy the whole service! They look at every detail. It's nice to have a brag book too.
So there's an idea for you all: kids love photo albums!

that is a good idea.
i did something like this with one of my layouts. DD#2 wanted a copy of it for her and her two friends that were pictured. so ... since i didn't want to make a habit of passing out $2 8x10 layouts to everyone all the time. i modified it a little and printed it smaller. i forget if i did 5x7 or 4x6. a 5x7 is about 65 cents at sam's.
i just reduced the layout to the desired size and replaced the bkgd with one thaat was a little larger. if that makes sense. i resize the LO so that the width is 4 (for 4x6) or 5 (for 5x7) and then replace the bkgd with one that is 4x6 or 5x7.
than i was able to give out layouts to dd#2's friends for a lot less $$.
but i agree with your sister ... you need to print those babies!

What a great idea! I think I am going to start doing 12x12 layouts and just print them off at a smaller size. I really love the way a square layout looks.
Any idea what the most common size for the smaller square books are?

oh ... i don't print them myself ... i use sam's (16 cents - 4x6 or 63 cents 5x7)
that is always cheaper than printing them myself ... wasting paper, wasting ink etc.
you could also upload to walmart.com and choose the pick up option to save on shipping. i think their 4x6 is about 25 cents.
hth!

i think you can find both 8x8 and 6x6 books fairly easily.
