Well, when it comes to sizing, resolution, pixels, dpi and all that stuff, I am a complete ditz!
Hopefully, this thread will be a help for people like me!

I have such a hard time understanding how to save and resize. Probably because I use a program not used by many here at DSP but hopefully someone will be able to explain some guidelines that I can adapt to my program.

I use Picture It Publishing. So far I have opened my program and resized my paper to 2.5 x 3.5 at 200 ppi resolution. I created my DATC and saved it as a png file. When I went in to Save As a jpg file I didn't know what size to save it. There are boxes to put in the correct size in pixels, I just don't know what to put in them! :D

I guess that is another question.... do we email them as jpg files?
I just want to be sure and know the correct way to save and send them to my friends so they don't get a postage size DATC!

Any help in understanding this part of it will be greatly appreciated! :p

2.5 inches x 3.5 inches at 200ppi will be 500px x 700 px.
Yes email them as a jpg ( with as little compression as possible).
For uploading to the gallery - you can save at the same size 500x700 or maybe resize down a little bit and compress it a bit more to get under 125k

Lauren!! Thank you so much for your quick reply. Those are the numbers that came up in the boxes but I didn't know for sure that they were correct.
Now I am off to upload my DATC! THANKS AGAIN!! :D

Well, gee whiz!!
I thought I was doing so great and now I have found a card that I have been sending out is too small... I am not sure but I think it may have something to do with that I changed my settings to 300 ppi. Does that make a difference in the sizing?
The last card that I did Friendship (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=48085&cat=500&page=1) started out at 2.50 x 3.50 and 300 ppi. When I 'saved as' to a jpg the size automaticaly switched to 1050 x 750. I thought it needed to be 700 x 500 so I filled those numbers in. I just tried printing out a page of DATC's and this particular card was much smaller than the rest so I know I did something wrong. I have created three cards and the other two are okay it is just this one and the only thing I did different was change from 200 ppi to 300 ppi so I am thinking that must have something to do with it.. like I said before.. when it comes to this size stuff my brain is mush... any help will be greatly appreciated. :o Oh, and to those that I have sent out the wrong size card.. as soon as I can figure out what I did wrong, I will fix it and resend a new one! :p

500x700 is 2.5inches by 3.5 inches at 200ppi - Here at DSP all designers work at 200ppi - this is entirely sufficient for printing - especially for small items like this so you havent done anything wrong - by putting in 300 instead of 200 it will make the image larger ( 750x1050) so by making it smaller when you saved as jpg it just resized it down to 200ppi

Lauren, thank you so much for your quick reply.... I was so confused and now you have made it clear again! I have resized my card and resent it out. Whewwww.... that was a close one! LOL

Thanks again,
