I read the tutorial on The Font Thing and downloaded it. I notice that samples do not show properly for many of my fonts. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes, I've had this happen for fonts that don't work or are duplicated (those that didn't work are "pre-windowsXP fonts" like my own handwriting font). Many I was able to reinstall and correct the problem. Those that were duplicated, I fixed the problem.

I have created a directory for fonts that isn't my regular Windows font directory -- I have subdirectories or font types. When I download a font, they go to these subdirectories -- I have also copied all of my installed fonts there. BECAUSE, when you uninstall a font with The Font Thing, it deletes it (you can retrieve it from your recycle bin, but if you already have every font in a special subdirectory, it won't matter).

It's a great program cuz it lets you view fonts that aren't installed, it has the information you need about copyright and use, and it allows you to view all the characters of one font, or compare many fonts with one quote or word.

Well..guess what? I rebooted my computer and now some of the fonts that weren't showing are there just fine.

I have many fonts in a separate directory. But I like the idea of copying all the fonts there so I don't have to worry if I unstall something. I will take care of that today.

I have been using HP fontSmart. But one of the things I like about TFT is being able to see the fonts by there categories. I got tired of srooling through HP Fontsmart to see all the dings I have.

Would you mind sharing what sub directories you use? I look at all my fonts and I'm not sure what to call them. I get dings, handwriting...but fonts like comic sans, happy, alba matter...I don't know how to classifty them.

Thanks,

Canay
