Ooooooooooooh, this is so frustrating because Smart Guides are my all time favorite feature of CS2 - I use them ALL the time.

I always have them on but lately, I cannot figure out what is happening. They work sometimes and don't work at other times - and I double check to ensure that they are on. I move my elements painstakingly slow to make sure I'm just not missing them - the guides are hot pink so I should be able to see them clearly and I'm just not seeing them at all sometimes. I even turn off visibility of some layers to give me a clear field in order to see them.

I don't know if it's a matter of the order of my layers in the palette? Is there some rule about what order my layers should be when trying to align one element to another? I've tried all different combinations and, like I said, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.

Any ideas?

Andy....look under VIEW
make sure you have a check mark by EXTRAS

Yep - that's checked. :(

well...you have me stumped...
I know that when the EXTRAS is not checked my little pink lines do not show up
also....when I am not "in-line" with another object it is trying to line up with it will not show up.

so...when you are not seeing them....
verify EXTRAS is checked
and
make sure that you have other items you are trying to align it with...you also need to make sure the layer is visible.
