Ok...so I desperately need to organize my fonts. The only way that I have them organized is in 2 folders A-k and L-Z but this makes it nearly impossible to find a certain type of font if I dont know the exact name.
So, tell me how you have your fonts organized? Here are some categories that I can think of:
Dings
Handwriting
Script
Grunge
Any other ideas? I dont want to get too complicated but want a better organization system than what I have now! Thanks!

Have you looked into The Font Thing (http://members.ozemail.com.au/~scef/tft.html)? It's a great way to keep track of your fonts. And you can create collections of the different types and easily and quickly install or uninstall the fonts you want.
I really have no font organization right now. There really isn't a nice inexpensive way to organize fonts on a Mac. I wish there was. It would make it a whole lot easier to find what I'm looking for. LOL!

Oh lordy...then I'm no help. I have one folder with all of my 1500 fonts thrown in there. I did use Font Thing at work and renamed all the files based on FontName, so it would be easier to find them. Some of them had names so messed up who knew what they were!
That might be a starting point if you haven't done that yet. Hmmm, now I'm getting ideas...I may need to reorganize my font files into category folders. I must have a bazillion dingbats and alpha fonts.

wow! That's a lot of categories! I don't think my list will turn out like that but it might be close. I have a question though...what do you do with fonts that could fall into multiple categories...like Dingbats or Alpha fonts that are holiday theme?

this is a very old list actually (but i do still have them sorted this way). now i primarily have mine sorted by foundry (in addition to theme/type) and search that way. but when they fit into multiple i just put it in both places :)

Thanks Amanda! I saw your partial list in the Font Thing tutorial but not all of them were listed! This helps bunches! Now, the task of sorting through 1200 fonts! I sure wish I would have known to sort them this way when I was downloading everything! :)

I use MyFonts fonts manager it let you organize and intalll and lets you print out a list of fonts they way they look. I keep a folder of my fonts so I know exactly how theyare going to look when I use them (without opening another program.
