I saw a thread asking how to curl a ribbon, and since it refered to a different plug-in than what i use i started a new thread.
This min tut uses the viros plug-in which can be found here (http://www.vizros.com/product.html). Download it, Install to your Plug-in folder. Open PSP, go to that plug-in on the menu and choose register. The code can be found here (http://www.vizros.com/register.html). The website does state that some people with PSP 8 or 9 may have trouble... but i didn't have any at all and i use PSP 9.

Open a new image.
Draw a rectangle for your ribbon in the color of your choice. Convert to Raster Layer. Then select rectangle
Go to you plug-in menu, choose Viros, then Twist.
here's the settings i used for the example (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=53017&cat=500&page=1) ...

Position- Top left
Selection- Input
Parameters
direction-30
location-100
radius-30
Page properties
Fore Page- image (the rectangle you drew)- opaque
Back Page- solid custom color- opaque
Ground Page- solid- transparent
Unselected page- solid- transparent

hope this helps someone. Any questions. Just ask.

did you select the rectangle using selection tool before opening the plugin??? I didn't select it once and that's what it ended up looking like.... let me know if that doesn't work.

oh thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!
That is what I was forgetting to do......

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=53155&cat=500&page=1

Now just to make it longer.

If you draw a thinner rectangle it will make it look longer with the same settings... or just make a longer rectangle.

Thanks Princess! That's exactly what I was looking for! And combining it with Stacey's polar thingie, I got this (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=53416&cat=500&page=1). I didn't pay much attention to how the ends would look, I was just playing. But it's interesting.

How do I draw a rectangle? I know this is probably very basic, but I am missing that info.

I can't get it to work in X. It'll make teh ribbon ok, but it prints 'vizros' all over it. It worked fine in 9 for me. Anyone else get it to work in X

All of the plugins I have downloaded (PSCS2) have required that I shut down PS and reopen before the filter/brush/style shows up in the filter list - if it's open when I install it. Maybe this would help with PSP also?

yep. It's registered. I even took it off the PC, redownloaded it & reregistered. I still get the words. But X has been acting funny with all my plugins (I always have to remind itwhere they are, even though the places are listed in the 'file locations' already) so it could just be X being weird.

Perhaps, someone can help me please?

I buy this plug-in, I register it. But everytime if I twist my objects, there is the sign : vizros plugins on my objects :( .. what can I do?

I don't have that on mine, odd. I'd email their support or website and ask if they can help. I hope you get it sorted out!

I am so new at using my program. How do you add plug-ins? I tried looking it up in the help section of the program, but I was more confused. When I looked under Import and Export, it said there were no plug ins loaded, but that option was not highlighted so I couldn't click on it. Any suggestions?

Plug-ins are added to the folder on your hard drive. By default, they are in:

Program Files\Corel\Corel Paint Shop Pro X\PlugIns\

Or whatever version you have. If you're using version 9 or less, it is under:

Program Files\Jasc....whatever else

When you buy them, or download a free you, that's your installation folder.

You *can* change it in your preferences to be somewhere else. I usually leave mine in the default place, though.

Hi quick question I thought this was free - is it not?

Mel: It took some convolutions to get the old limited demo version to work, but I note that the new demo is different. So, ultimately, I think the FREE discussion here relates to the old demo/old version.

The new Vizros filter costs $19.95 - and does more than just curl ribbon; you can download a demo of it to see how it works. It prints Vizros all over the image, making it useful ONLY to demo.

I love the book effect. :)

I downloaded the demo version, and am playing with it before deciding to buy it...
the twisted ribbon that I made, and the book, and the cylinder--can they be moved independently of the background? Can they be resized? Mine seem to be merged with the backgound. Did I do something wrong? PSPX is what I have, although I don't love it and am seriously thinking of defecting to CS3.

Maggie: I always made mine on a new layer, and didn't have any trouble moving things around.

Hi, just found this thread...on Elilabeth's post on 9-17-2005, I can't follow the link to what Elizabeth created, requires a password here at DSP....also, what is Stacey's polar thingy...I've been trying to figure out how to work PSP's polar coordinates to get a circle and am wondering if Stacey's polar thing does anything like that :)
