I hope this may be useful to some of you who like to use your scrapbooking skills for things more thann just pages!
Elizabeth's baptism is on Sunday and I designed this as the topper for her special cake. It is a traditional fruit cake - I have learned this is not top favourite among Americans, but believe me WE love it and this, my dear late Mum's recipe is particularly yummy! and I plan to make a fluffly frosting (at Mum Kate's request) and put this on top. I have had it printed on rice paper with edible inks - not quite the purity of colour that paper prining gives, but looks it looks pretty. Hope to have a pic of the actual cake after Sunday!

I DON'T do it myself LOL...... ne thing we are very blessed with is excellent, and very reasonable, printing services in our area - I had this printed at a little shop in our local mall who sell ingredients for home industries. From what I understand they use a dedicated printer, edible ink and a sort of rice paper. I'm now home with it, and next step is to put in onto the cake, they tell me it needs to be dry, and it will peel off - if not peeling by itself i must blow gently with a hair dryer. Wish me luck!

Very sweet! Great idea. :)
I personally like a good fruitcake, as long as it's not too dry. I believe our cakes are much different than yours though. For one, ours aren't frosted. ;)

Best of Luck putting your exquisite topper in place! I love fruit cake and would make, and cherish your recipe if you would part with it. My Canadian roots exposed me to wonderful groom cakes frosted in butter cream icing. Delicious! Thank you!

I live in California and the major grocery store chains will do this for about $30 for a half sheet cake. They will take any photo and scan it. It comes out beautifully. Our grocery stores here are Safeway and Albertson's.
I don't know about the others.

Just an udate - sadly the baptism has had to be postponed - Elizabeth (and big brother Josh) 's "other" gran, Elizabeth, passed away last night after a long battle with cancer.
