Hi everyone,

I know this as been asked before on a couple of occasions but I'm asking again to see how we might improve our photography sections here @ DSP, any ideas??? We want to provide you with not only a great Scrapbooking site but also a great resource for you to improve on your photography skills. So come on people throw your ideas @ me!

How about more in depth explanations to accompany the photo challenges? Like this month was Bulb function, and I thought..."Huh?" A little technical blurb beyond the general definition would be really helpful, about what it does or perhaps a general place to look for it on the camera. I mentioned in a thread that I found the bulb function, and got a few PMs asking ME what is was! I told them they had the wrong Emma and to check in here with you! LOL! :p

So for each challenge, focus on a technical aspect with an in-forum explanation and some good links too.

I'll let you know if I can think of anything else...
Thanks! Doing a great job and so happy to see the Photog team growing and trying so hard to help us improve our photos!

Oh, yes, I agree with Emma P. I would like more explanations along with the challenge. I have been flying by the seat of my pants the last two. I thought I knew kind of, sort of, what you meant, but wasn't sure, so I just did what I thought would work, but I still don't know if it was right? lol. Does that make sense?

Hi, I think a topic on lighting would be very beneficial. Lighting is the key to all good photography. And I know that I had to learn that digital reads light very differently than film. Digital reads like E6 (slide film) anddigital grabs those daily "casts", which I'm sure eveyone has encountered and if we explained the temperatures at certain times of the day and how to work with the right settings for exposures and proper filters, I think everyone would enjoy this. Then again this is alot, maybe a DSU class :)

OK I will definately keep that in mind for our next challenge! The only reason I haven't been giving additional info regarding the challenge, is so that people can dig out info for themselves & learn however much or as little as they'd like. I thought if I don't give links & stuff it would kindda force you to really search deep into your manuals, oh well, worth a try! But thats fine if this isn't working, I will try & get together some kindda resources for you ladies that take part in our challenges to make life a little easier. ;)

Thanks for your ideas Emma & Valeri, they have been noted & taken on board!

Emma I am interested in what you are doing here! Too tell the truth I didn't realize there was a photography section for the first few months - but it's understandable because I'm just learning the digital scrapbooking and I have tried to stay somewhat focused!! Once I graduate from all these PS class I got myself into I would like to expand my learning. I do need to learn my camera better. It's a shame to have as nice a digital camera as I do and to use it as a point and shoot (blush).
But for the time being (if not for always) I will need it made as simple as possible. I don't have time to dig here too!
Your post as sparked excitement in me though and I think I'll be climbing on board soon!
