I would like to do a collage about Pittsburgh for my husband's uncle for Christmas. He lived there all of his life and just recently moved to Upstate NY to be near family due to health problems. He is such a dear man and has done so much for Nate's family and I would love to be able to give him something for Christmas that he would truly enjoy.

I checked stock.xchg but I didn't see that many great photos. I also checked istock.photo but I really hate to have to pay those fees to download the images.

Postcards often have the most wonderful images, so I'm wondering if someone who lives in/near/around Pittsburgh could send me some postcards of Pittsburgh so that I can scan them? I've never been there so I don't anything about the area. I guess I'm looking for the main attractions and some sports related sites. Of course, I would reimburse for the postcards and postage.

If you can help me out, please pm me - thank you so much!! :)

Andy, did you try googling "Pittsburgh, PA?" There are many sites there, also the Chamber of Commerce - I would try contacting them and letting them know what you are doing - perhaps they could point to more websites.

Thank you for that link - I checked out that site and registered - there were a couple of great pics there so I'm hoping to get authorization to download them.

I can't believe I didn't have my husband buy a ton of postcards when he went down there to move Uncle Pat up here. Of course, I wasn't even thinking of this collage at that point, but still ... it would have made this entire process SO much easier!!

Found these - postcards (http://www.post-gazette.com/postcards/) from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, links to Photos & Scenes of Pittsburgh (http://www.carnegielibrary.org/subject/pgh/photos.html), Bridges & Tunnels (http://pghbridges.com/pittsburghE/0592-4482/brilliantarA.htm), and one of the best - Penny Postcards from Allegheny County (http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/allegheny/postcards/ppcs-allegheny.html). Hope some of these prove useful. Try the advanced search when using Google.

Finally, I'm posting my collage. Thank you to everyone who helped me out ... I wound up getting some stunning photos from Beth Conant, a native of the area and a wonderful photographer. Uncle Pat loved his collage!

You can see it here (http://tinyurl.com/dz98n) if you like.

Well don't forget to add the Pittsburgh Steelers to your Collage. You can find all kinds of stuff on them. Especially since they just won the Super Bowl yesterday!! Go Steelers!! If he lived in Pittsburgh most of his life then he must be a steelers fan!! There are tons of sites that you will be able to find Pittsbugh info and pictures. Just go to google or yahoo.
