I attempted to make one of those neat pics I have seen around here where the person appears to be cartoon-ish or colored in sort of comic book style. Is there a name for this kind of thing? Off the top of my head, Starling has one like this, and hers looks great! Mine, however, leaves something to be desired LOL. Is there a tutorial around on making these? I'd love to compare it to the steps I used for mine, and I would then be able to improve it.

yours look great! I don't think thes have a name, tho. One thing I notice on yours, Starlings, and most of them, is that the neck/chin deliniation is weak or missing. Try using a slightly darker color on the neck, or adding a gradient so the area just under the chin appears shadowed, as real necks do.

You'll get more control if you add some raster layers above your avatar and add some brush painting for color gradations on the nose, neck, eyelids, rosy cheeks, lip and haird highlights, etc. I even used a round brush on Scatter to add freckles to mine!

Maybe a lighter color for the lips? Other than that - this looks incredible! All the layers for the hair are especially nice.

Well, I just went back in to dry to take the neck to a slightly darker shade and work on the lips, but I can't. I made the mistake of resizing for web without taking the size back up. It's so tiny now I can't really work with it. Oh, well. I will live with it for now.

Emma, what does rasterized mean? I am familiar with the term when working with text, but other than that I am out of my league LOL.
