View Full Version : Invitations & Cards
I love to make invitations on the computer!! I have made them for several parties. Sometimes I just email them, if everyone has an email addy, and sometimes I have them printed.
I also make my own "ecards" for Holidays and send them out to all my friends and family! I have done Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valetines, and soon to do Easter :) Everyone loves them and its so much fun to get the comments back!
I can't wait to hear some of your wonderful ideas!

I am lucky enough to have received many cards from Tina. She almost always has her handsome son on there. If not, you can always tell her style. She does beautiful work!

Do the same thing the big card companies do, put your name on the bottom of the back of the card in a nice script, decorate with a little something (I use a button or a ribbon) and eventually people will notice.

ElizabethMc, you could put a small siggy in the corner. Tasteful, like a trademark, kwim?
And to the other Elizabeth, thanks and (((((((((HUGS)))))))))!!! :D

Have you searched Cards or Invitations in the gallery?
Here is a link to my Invitation & Cards Album (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=955&ppuser=55).
Usually a good thing to do is find one you like maybe at the store and copy it...or use it as a spring board for your own ideas.

Another idea - DSP has a great Scraps of Style, Card Creations CD. I bought it a few months ago & I really like it! Here's a link:

Thanks for all the great ideas guys. Where I'm running into a problem is I've bought blank cards sized 5.5 x 4 and I can't figure out how to print them!!! It sounds like an easy task I know but changing the canvas size in PSP is confusing me!! lol You would think they had a tutorial to make cards! Thanks again for all the tips.

I love to do cards but printing is always a challange for me. It took me forever to find a program to print them the way I wanted it printed. I am linking the front of the invite I did for my daughters fairy party, a bit cheesey but she loved it :)

I'm copying this here too, I just made this for Taya's bday. Recognize the elements? From my freebie birthday kit, Software Wars, and streamers from my DSU 361 class. Nice to have stuff on hand to make these cards really fast!
I think it's cute if cheesy, but it didn't print well at all on the card stock. Do you print on greeting card paper, or matte photo paper? Recommendations?
Thanks!

Hiya!
I'm hoping some of you gals can give me some advice.
I'm thinking about making some photo note cards out of photos I've taken. I don't want any text - pretty much full photo on a 5 x 7 card. I want to make sets to give away as gifts.
Here's my problem. I haven't had good luck with printers (ours is actually not working right now), so I've been happy enough to have places like shutterfly & snapfish print my digital pictures for me. I've found that winkflash.com will print 5 x 7 cards with envelopes for $.99 per card with no minimums. Does it cost substantially less than that per card (with cards and ink) to print at home?
Thanks!
:)

I just started scrapbooking and I'm already planning on making the invitations for my nephew's party in september. I'm going to photoshop the name of each of each child into the invite and save the copy in his/her name . Then I'll send them off to be printed at Walmart's photo center for .25c + tax.. Quick perssonalized invitiations and an reasonable cost. If he invites 30 kids (which he won't his mother usually only allows about 10) it would only cost 8 bucks Canadian.

I have found at least here in the UK, getting things printed by the photolabs is cheaper, for example I sent 40 prints to bonus print for printing 6x4 and including postage it was less than £7, the photo paper would have cost me almost that and the ink/cartridges would have probably been another £5 at least.
Once you factor in the cost of the printer in the first place, in general its cheaper to send out. 10x12" prints from Bonus print are currently £2.99
But if you're printing at home, what paper do you choose? Do you have full-sheet greeting paper, or is it all the scored cards and envelopes included? I like to do postcard style half or quarter sheets, not folded, to fit envelopes I already have a ton of at home. Paper recommendations?
To know what the cost to print at home is, you have to pick out the paper you'll use. I don't know how to amortize the cost of ink into a print, but I know that unless you use an ink system, refilling yourself, etc, that pro printers are cheaper for anything up to 11x11. Even 12x12 is getting cheaper at the pros now.

I got my card order from winkflash yesterday.
I think they look GREAT, although I haven't had anything like this printed before, so I don't have much to comapre it to. Great colors, heavyweight cards, and clear developing. I messed up a little with my cropping and placement, but now that I know, I'll definitely be ordering more!
