two things just to throw out there if someone can help me.

One is that I tried to make a piece of ric rak and I opened a window, used rectangle tool to create the basic shape and then tried to hit rasterize and it wouldn't allow me to do that. I was following a tutorial I found someplace on line. What is the trick with the rasterize tool?

second, I tried to make my tying curved. I chose the elipse tool, chose my path (the center choice along the menu bar) and drew my shape, hit text and started to type and it just typed a straight line.

I am sure this is all operator error because I don't know my program or limitatins well enough but it is so frustrating to try a tutorial and not have it do what I want it to or it says it should do.

SOrry but the help option isn't helpful when you are not sure how to pose the question.

I am hoping someone familar with PhotoSHop (7) knows just what my problem is......besides me I mean.

thank you in advance for any help offered.

Reguarding typing on a path. I take it from your post you use PS7.
PS7 does not have text on a path so that is why you are not allowed to type on the shape as you are trying to do. You will need to use your distort tools to get the text to go in a circular shape.

for your rasterize question:
rasterizing is turing a vector image into a raster image. I would need to know a little more about what you are doing to be able to help you. If possible could you post the steps you have taken. and also please let me (us) know what version of PS you are using...I am assuming it is PS7

am using Adobe PhotoShop 7

Here is the link to the ric rak tutorial that I tried to follow.

http://www.digiscrappin.biz/ricrac.php

This site also had the tutorial for making the words curve by following the path.

It seems when my background is transparent I have difficulty with more things. Is that possible?

Thanks for the tip on using the distort tool. I will play around with that today.

I appreciate your response.

you can't do text on a path since you have PS 7. PS CS is PS 8 (Photoshop Creative Suite which works in conjunction with several other Adobe graphics programs, hence the name Suite of software), and PS CS 2 is now out. PS CS was the first version to have text on a path

The transparent background should make no difference in anything, some just prefer having it, some prefer working on a color

What mode is your image in? Go to Image>Mode and what has the checkmark next to it? RGB?
