I am just learning how to make layouts, and have downloaded 2 kits now. I want to make sure I understand how to properly give credit. I understand that if I submit something somewhere, I need to acknowledge the designer, etc.. Am I supposed to give credit somewhere on each layout/project also??
I would appreciate any guidance on this.
Thanks!
Amanda

Not ON the layout, just in the description when you post it.

Sorry to hijack your thread but I've a similar question.....what if *gasp* I don't know who to give credit to? My computer fried recently and although I was able to recover most all of my items/graphics etc...its so messed up that I can only tell of some of the designers.

If you know what the kit names were you can search in the shop for the kits and find the designer from there.
this is a do your best area, especially if you know the kit name you can just use that only, or designer name only (no site names, acronyms, links, even if you know it, unless it's the site you're posting the layout on)
you can also do a search in the stores where you usually purchase things, or freebies galleries, and post as much info as you have (kit or designer name or both), and put "unknown" for elements where you have zero info. Someone may correct you with a PM or comment if they know

I have a question - I typically refer to the TOU that I have and if the TOU state to give credits as "Mary Lou Whoo from Mary Lou Scraps" - shouldn't I put that in the credits? I don't write out the link with the www or the .com Is that against "rules"

Also, anyone have a link to that master alphabetical list of DSP kits and their item numbers? If you use the number in our keywords, then your layout will appear when some shopper takes the link to "See layouts using this product."

Thanks for the responses / suggestions! I'll do some searching and see if I can't find some owners but *groan* big job ahead LOL.
So in the meantime, I can get away with a 'unknown' disclaimer, if this belongs to you let me know?
DSP's Terms of Use state the same thing, to credit DSP if it complies with a site's specific terms. Some sites allow links or .com or acronyms or site names for crediting, many do not. So credit what the specific site allows, that you'll know by reading each site's posting guidelines/terms of use. DSP doesn't allow any of those, just kit and/or designer name only

I just want to say thank you to all for you help with this matter I have been doing layouts and have not been giving credit which is bad, because the people that do the kits do a great job and should get a pat on the back for it. Now I know how to give the credit.
