Hi! Newbie here. I'm crazy about photography and want to put some of my shots on large round glass ornaments. Has anybody done this? Any suggestions as to a type of paper to use for printing? I've never done decoupage but really want to try this. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thanks for your response!!! Although you came up with a fantastic idea and it's not quite what I need I may use it for another project.

I'm looking for a type of paper which will go through my printer, be sturdy but transparent (or semi-transparent) so a photo would show through and it must be thin enough to curve around a large glass ball.

Maybe I'm looking for the impossible. Possibly a fabric would be more appropriate? I don't know anything about fabrics but I have heard that thin fabric could be ironed onto freezer paper and put through a printer to add an image. It must then be ironed off as well. I haven't tried this but if anyone is interested I'll get more details.

Thanks again!

there is a special paper that you can transfer images onto called Lazertine (sp?) paper (I think) it works like a water decal you put the image in water and it slides a film off. I'd check the Carol Duval shows cause they have used it a lot on her shows. There is also a company called Tilano Fresco that sells a kit that has a transfer paper and a transfer solution that will work on glass.

I was able to locate the type product you were referring to. It is called Lazertran Waterslide paper. An inkjet printer prints a photo (or any image) and with the use of water the image slides off to be placed on most surfaces such as glass, candles, soap, etc...

Prices vary quite a lot since the company is located in the UK but one source with low prices was BelDecal.com. They have quite an assortment. I ordered from them only a few days ago. I believe it was 2 days in house and 2 days air delivery.

I'm excited to try the product. Thank you for your help.

oh, what fun! I never thought about decal paper. We used to put those on my mom's ceramics before firing, I was always fascinated with the way those worked. Of course with all the papers out there for heat transfer and transparent and heck, even lampshades, there would be decal paper too!

I'm so glad you found it! I'm going to check that site out too. I've wanted to try that paper for a while! :D

Ive also used inkjet transparencies and cut out a circular photo - rolled it up and slid it inside the glass ornaments
