Make rope is very very difficult. I would really suggest taking some of our element creation classes. Lauren goes over making all sorts of different fibers and that will give you the basis to creating some rope :)

I'll be looking into those classes. I really need the training.
Amanda, I'm trying to upload a layout of mine. I went to Gallery and them upload photo. I don't know if I'm in the right place to upload my layout. Anyway....its telling me that my file exceeds the limit size. I will really appreciated your help! Thanks!!

To upload your layout it needs to be saved as a jpg - and under 125kb - so I save for web - and reduce the size in the dialogue box to 600 px and then use the compression slider till it registers under 125kb- save as a copy after that

There are many things I don't know about photoshop. Can you tell me where I can find that dialogue box, and the compression slider. I was able to get the picture to 600px, I did it in a different way, but I was not able to do the compression slider. Thanks...
here's a tutorial for posting to the DSP gallery, with links at the top for resizing as Lauren mentioned
You can either do Image>Resize and File>Save As and choose JPG to get the dialog with the compression slider, or I prefer File>Save for Web for resizing and adjusting quality.

There is a compression slider right in the save for web function - its in the box that comes up - its half way down on the right hand side - you just slide the little lever along till you get the required size shown ( which shows under the preview screen)

There is a really good tut for making realistic-looking rope on Photoshop Cafe here: http://www.photoshopcafe.com/tutorials/rope/rope.htm
I've done this tut, it really does work. Lots of other good tuts on that site too :)

Thanks Diane. Always get great sites and tips from you.
that's a cool tutorial. A year or so ago I hunted and hunted for either a rop or coiled rope tutorial, and this one looks far better than anything I found. Thanks!
