Can anyone tell me an easy way to do the technique where all of the color from a picture is removed except for one or two focal points that are left in color? I'm using Elements3 and I know I just read something on an easy way to do this, but I can remember where! Thanks everyone!!!:)

Another option for the first method is to use a Layer Mask instead of the Eraser tool. Select the top layer in the Layers Palette. From the menu at the bottom, select the Mask (a circle inside a rectangle). In the highlighted layer, another rectangle will appear. Click on this rectangle (the Mask). Select the Brush tool. If you paint with black, the top layer is erased and the bottom layer shows through. If you eliminate something you wanted to keep, change the paint color to white and paint it back in. Masks let you correct mistakes since you can keep changing what shows and what doesn't. When using the Eraser you can Undo or Fade only the very last move you made. Have fun!

Ok....I just do it quick and dirty by just duplicating the photo you have and change the top layer to b/w and then erase only the parts I want to show as color. The color comes from your bottom layer original photo.

Thanks so much everyone. I'm home recovering from surgery, so I'm taking advantage of the extra time to learn new things. I appreciate all of your input!:)

Me too! I had minor hip surgery last August and that's when I got hooked. Unfortunately I was only off work for two weeks so I didn't get as far along as I would have liked!!!

How funny.....I had a total hip replacement. At first I was up to sitting at the computer - but once that phase passed (quickly) I have been at it!
