View Full Version : Buncha Questions Regarding digi

Alrighty ladies, I've been surfing the Help threads and now I have my own bunch of questions.
1. Printing, I do not have a large scale printer, but want my LO's I already did. Is there a store that does 12x12s professionally. I don't want to loose quality or pay out the nose for 1 page, since digi scrapping is so much more cost efficiant.. I'd like to stay that way.
2. I've heard mention of doing the LO's in 8x8, I could easily resize my 12's to that, but does anyone sell albums that are 8 square? I've seen the 8x11's and the 12x12's.
3. Does anyone scrap and print using a HP1350 (actually an HPPSC all in one) and get good results? I'm so affraid to hit print and get those nasty print lines but also just as scared to realize the ink only lasts for a couple pages.
4. Does anyone know of a trial for the HP scrapbooking software? I'd love to try it out before I throw my money out the window.. I work waaay too much to waste it :P
5. Has anyone used My Publisher with their digital layouts? I've heard it mentioned on various scrapbooking boards and would love to try it.. saves me the trouble of trying to get my printing done or quality perfect on my own. The cost is pretty decent too.
Thanks in advance...

there are lots of online stores that do 12x12. a search will find many, and there are threads here with suggestions.
lots of album makers sell teh 8x8 albums. it's the "new 12x12". :)
i have a psc2410 and use it for all my pages. love it! it costs around 1.75 in photo paper and ink per layout.
haven't tried my publisher, maybe others have though. hth. :)
Are you creating your layouts with a resolution of at least 200 pixels per inch (ppi)? That will make a difference in the quality of your printed results. I have purchased 6x6 and 8x8 albums at Michaels (craft store) - and I quite like the results I get with the 6x6 printout. It's a good size for browsing, for take-along, and for A-B-C albums. I create my layouts for the 12" printout, but reduce a copy for 6" printout.

First of all welcome! I was a 12x12 paper scrapper but after having some of my digi layouts printed in both 12x12 AND 8x8 I am totally in love with the 8x8 size! There are lots of 8x8 size albums out there-I got my last one at Joanne's. I design my layouts in 12x12 at 200 dpi and resize to 8x8 and get them printed here: http://www.scrapbookpictures.com/SBPView.jsp?STATE=HOME&BOTTOM=SBPPrices.jsp&SUBHEAD=home an 8x8 page cost $1.99 plus shipping-I've been very happy with the way my pages print out from them!
Good luck!

You have to decide for yourself what is an acceptable print quality and what is an acceptable cost of printing. Your AIO is an entry level unit and will not print great quality and HP is known for sucking up ink. I would suggest you print out a LO and judge for yourself if it is acceptable to you. Printing 12 x 12 LOs is costly even when you have them printed off Costco. The most affordable option would be to do LOs no bigger than 8.5 x 11 and purchase a good photo printer like an Epson. But you have to judge for yourself.

Thank you all for your imput. I'm going to fiddle around with my printer and some 8x8s and see how it comes out at max quality. I'm nearly out of ink anyways. We only have 1 Costco in my general area.. and that is about 45 minutes away, but it may be worth the drive.. as long as I'm going that way anyways. As far as the album sizes I have a Pat Catans really close to me, and a Michaels down the street from work.. I'll have to do some brousing and see what would work best. After I wrote the above post I was fiddling with some layout sizes and I have to agree, the 8x8's do seem to work well. They are small enough to carry around in a book, but not so small that the quality is restricted to one pic and a journal box. I could easily resize my previously done layouts without worrying about destroying my LO's. Thanks again, your all awesome!!!!!

Hey Jena! I just wanted to let you know, I checked out that link. I love the prices and the differant services they offer. I may just have to try out a couple to see how well they come out. The prices are just as comperable as Kinko's promised me.. but at the size *I* want.. not their size choices. Thanks so much!!:D

I print my 8x8's at home, only because I'm just too lazy to go anywhere else. I have found ADORABLE 8x8 albums at Joann's. Be sure to check them out.

I got some beautiful 8x8 albums at Michael's before Christmas - unfortunately, the 8x8's were almost gone, so yes, it's a popular size.
I have a HP2410 that I have gotten decent prints on, but I splurged before Christmas and got a HP 8250 to print my layouts on up to 8.5 x 11. I don't do much 12x12, so I didn't justify the larger format cost. And the 8250 has individual cartridges like the Epson.

I create in 12x12 but print all mine 8x8 on either my HP2610 All in One or my Epson R1800. It's a wide format - but I still prefer 8x8.
You can get 8x8 albums at any LSS, Craft Store, I've even gotten some at Target :)

I agree Joann's had a much nicer selection of 8x8 albums - the had a good basic selection for under $10 last time I was in there.
