I think I want to do 8x10 pages-just because it's easy to get them printed out, kwim? Anyhoo-what do you do when the kit you download is in 12x12 format? Can I make it work???

You just resize the elements as you add them to your layout. There is a great tutorial on making your 1st LO... lots of other great tuts too. Take the link at the top of the page...

When I want to change to 8x10 or 10 x 8, I just resize the 12 x 12 to 10 x 10 and then crop the extra 2 in off of the side or the top, depending on which page orientation I want. Make sure you resize all of your elements accordingly too!

I hadn't thought of resizing to 10x10 first - that's a great idea Valeri. Normally I just add the background paper and let it crop to fit, then resize any elements that need it. But resizing the paper first makes good sense.

the main reason I do that is because sometimes with some papers, they just look funny, so HUGE! lol I am sure that some papers would be fine with just cropping though

I do that, too. But for some designs I like to move the paper around to find which part will work best in the layout before cropping.
