Well we are almost at the end of 2005. Everywhere you turn...tv, magazines, newspapers...you see coverage about "The Year in Review." I thought it would be fun if each of us looked through our galleries, at all the layouts we did this past year, and pick out your three best/favorite to hightlight here. Post the links and share why these are your favorites. I'll start to 'get the ball rolling' and hope everyone participates. I know I would love to see what everyone thought was their best work and why.
This first is a favorite because it was done as a swap with Stacey Jewell Stahl. Doing the swap allowed me to get to know Stacey and being blessed with her friendship is the single best thing that happened to me at DSP this year:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=44309&cat=1232
This second layout is representative of all the layouts I did this year using Virtual Painter, my all-time favorite plug-in. Manipulating photos with this product has changed for all time the way I think about and design my scrapbook pages:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=55019&cat=500&ppuser=1383
Finally my last layout was inspired by the incredible layout Andyapc did about herself. Her journaling really challenged me to write something about myself that would give people who don't know me a flavor of who I am and yet be so honest and truthful that even my very best friend would know it was me without being told:

Okay, that is my year in review, so let's see yours!!:D
Oh and HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone, may 2006 see your best photos and layouts yet!! ;)

and this one is so simple, but represents all the adventure we had this year. rafting, kayaking, snow kayaking, mountain biking, etc!

Deb! What a fantastic idea! I love seeing "Year in Review" stuff! :D This is going to be such a great place to come visit and see some amazing creations!!! I hope every single person on this site participates!!!:D
Here are my three:
I really have a special place in my heart for this one. I created it for one of Emma's Thursday night scraplift crops. This type of layout really got me out of comfort zone for scrapping. It is of my daughter, Stephanie (Sempson). It is my wish and desire for her life.
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=35784&cat=500&ppuser=4973
Another of my favorites is this one of my dad. He took this photo when he was in his early twenties, way back before digital was ever thought of. I am so proud of his talent and creativity. Another reason it is a favorite is because it one of the layouts that I did for the DET Contest! Boy, talk about stretching our creativity to the max!!! :D
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=54180&cat=500&ppuser=4973
My last one is of my favorite page from my Family Recipe Book that I just uploaded a few days ago. The Recipe Book was a true work of love and is so very precious to me. We just don't know how quickly our time here on earth is going to pass and we should record as much of it as possible while we can.

Happy New Year, Deb, and everyone else here at DSP!!!

I just started scrapping this year - not digi-scrapping, scrapping period. I don't have some of my very first pages posted but these 2 are the first I do have posted. They were made during Emma's DSU 130 class:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=43106&ppuser=17705
and
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=43105&cat=500&ppuser=17705
The next one is the first challenge layout I did - at about the same time:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=43282&cat=500&ppuser=17705
And the last one - this was done at a member-hosted event hosted by Crazycowgirl, Tammy. I think we were given an ad as inspiration and this is what I came up with. I love the "cleanliness" of this layout:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=48530&cat=500&ppuser=17705
Here are some of mine. I didn't do that many this year. Bad Tina!
The first one is not because of design, but purely because of the subject matter. In July Tate, my niece, my SIL and myself all attended a huge Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince party. Margie and Josh met us there. We had a great time doing all sorts of HP things and then to top it off... we got the book (but we went to Kroger and got it, b/c it was a madhouse at the bookstore at the celebration! LOL!):
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=48457
The next one is because I find it hard to believe that my little baby was turning 8! Now, it's less than 3 months before he turns 9! eek! Where does the time go? :
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=27012
This one just cuz... well... just cuz. I've always loved this photo of him and the word art quote is so true :) Pretty happy w/ my journaling on this one too:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=27553
This one- very simple, but I love the poem & picture:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=21745
and one more, very basic, but it's all about me:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=25998
Is that too many? I had another fav, but I took it down for publication and never put it back up. oopsy!

Well - I have yet to scrap Jae's graduation - that would be an important one :)
But here is a layout I did of our first home we bought in July:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=44994
Here's a link to our cruise album that we also went on in July:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1475
And here's my son on his first day of kindergarten:

Great idea!

This is a great idea!!!
This is my all time fave layout I have made. Partly due to it being 100% mine (the papers, the elements, the history of a long time friendship), but mostly because it was published this year in Memory Makes Idea Gallery 6.
The Kids Meet (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=32772)
I love this layout because it reminds me of how much fun my kids are and that I need to enjoy the little moments in life....
Hooked on fishing (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=45963)
This layout was just fun to make and I love the picture of my son in it.
The Game- Priceless (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=58661)
I can't wait to enjoy all the layouts that get posted....

Ok here are my 3 favourites from this year
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=23878
I chose this one because this is still my favourite kit of all that Ive made - I was so proud of that pinecone - and all the over 150 layers it took to create it - and of the torn corrugated cardboard - and also because it was a nice family day out and the kids all co operated with the photo taking for a change!!
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=42003
This one I chose because its a great example of how you can manipulate a pretty average photo into something very precious using a free programme (Picasa ) and a piece of Tinas masterful artwork
And the third one was a bit harder to pick but I think this one - http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=62403
because it reminds me why would i want to live anywhere else when i have this view from my bedroom window

Here are the layouts or photos that have a special place in my heart :)
The first is one of our daughter Kylie wearing a hideous hat that many many years ago belonged to me :)
The Red Hat (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=21412&cat=500&perpage=45&ppuser=202)
The second is about my hubby.....a very special man who is my world :)
Why I Love You (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=24166&cat=500&perpage=45&ppuser=202)
The third is the photo that I have always dreamed of taking :)
Magic (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=40152&cat=500&perpage=45&ppuser=202)
And the final is of my dear son and second grandson who was born in April 2005 :)

Great idea!!
First of all the most important layout I did was when I decided to take control of my life and admit that I am worth something after all!
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=57891
Next is this one, because I love this photo and this is one of my favorite kits that I have created!
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=55756
Last but not least....
I chose this one because it is of a hand drawn birthday card from my son!
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=45980
Great idea!!

The Little Table (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=24476)
This table has belonged to half-a-dozen little girls in the family since my Grandpa made it for his little sisters. When Mom said it was going back to one of the sisters for her great-grandchildren, I hauled it out back to get photos before it went away.
Dia de los Muertos (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=25850)
I was delighted with how well the candle-lit photos turned out, and really like how striking the page is.
Pismo Beach (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=56336)
The journaling really worked on this one!

This IS a Fabulous idea. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I am enjoying looking at these LO's so much knowing that they are you favorites. Really great stuff!
The first one is my second digital layout I EVER did. It represents to me finding DSP which has been a HUGE part of this past year for me.The first layout I ever did was lost to the great DSP Computer Virus of 2004 and being a newbie I didn't have the original saved. This is the second layout I ever did and I only have the JPEG of and it is pretty poor quality but still I hold it dear to my heart. It was also my second challenge here at DSP. It was for the Lyrical Challenge when Jamie Rouselle was doing the challenge and the song was "Remember When" by Alan Jackson.
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=22966&cat=500&ppuser=6067
The second layout I chose is one I did for my grandmother whom we lost this past November. I did this layout for her and now I cherish it because looking at this reminds me of the great lady that she was. I miss her dearly. She is the reason that I scrapbook...
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=25033&cat=500&ppuser=6067
The third layout I chose because it was an idea I had and really went outside the box to create. It was the first layout that I created totally 100% by myself. It was really the first time I explored Microsoft Picture It! Publisher to see what it could do. I just love this layout. Everytime I look at it ...it makes me smile!
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=25476&cat=500&ppuser=60
Good Luck everyone! I can't wait to see what 2006 holds in store!

What a great idea Debb! Here are my favourites:
Magic (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=41884&cat=500&ppuser=1660) - I love the mysterious look of this and the fact that it is so different to what I normally do. But the thing I love most is the intensity of Leon's eyes
My Style (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=61086&cat=500&ppuser=1660) - because it captures Callum's goofy personality - and I can see his eyes in the main photo (they disappear when he smiles)
The Price of Love (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=63358&cat=500&ppuser=1660) - because it captures a simple moment in our lives - and it is always nice to hear that your son loves you (even if it is only because he didn't have to eat vegetables)

Wow this year has gone by quickly and it's been great to share it with all my DSP friends -
For my year I would pick out because it is the first page I created using techniques I learned from Emma's fabulous classes - the background paper is a texture created from a photo of a brick
A Storm is Brewing (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=30459&cat=500&ppuser=2464)
Not the best LO but for one of the most fun weeks I've ever had in my life
DSP Birthday (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=31368&cat=500&ppuser=2464)
For challenging my digital scrapbooking skills - and for my friend being willing to share her fabulous daughter
Goalie (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=44004&cat=500&ppuser=2464)
And for another season - the same tree that I started with in the spring (I had hoped to get all 4 seasons with this tree close to my parents house in North Texas - maybe next year)
Texas Summer (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=41707&cat=500&ppuser=2464)
Hope that everyone has a great 2006!

Debb, this is a wonderful idea and you have honored me with your words and your friendship. I’m so touched. I had a hard time doing a year in review, but I think these capture the bittersweetness of 2005 for me.
I love this layout for the bold colors and soft expression on my daughter’s face. I would think she was beautiful if she had a wart on her nose and was still bald - her spirit is what is so sweet and lovely. I was so proud of this layout that I had played around and taught myself new things to come up with this effect. Karen B saw this layout and mentioned she wanted to be my swap buddy some time. After getting to know Debb in our digital swaps, I was thrilled to get to know Karen as another sister in Christ.
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=44258&cat=1161
This layout is special because my parents came to visit us in St. Louis with my niece in May and we had an amazing time together. They just left our home in CT after visiting this week and I’m sad and miss them already. And . . . I think this is the layout of mine that Lauren saw and PMd me to say that she thought I had potential to become a designer. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=46880&cat=500&ppuser=7454
Finally, the year ended in an interesting way: We moved from St. Louis, MO, to Michigan in August and then moved unexpectedly to Connecticut at the beginning of November. I was expecting to live in Michigan for a year, close to my parents and sisters and extended family . . . and was very disappointed when my expectations were not met. This layout helps me through the bittersweet moments.

This is such a fantastic thread and it really made me go and look at my gallery and see how much I think I've improved (with lots of help from you all :) ) over the past year. I actually had a hard time choosing, but here goes:
This layout was a stretch for me and it proved to me that if I just let myself be creative and don't try to stifle anything, I do pretty well.
Turn to the Sun (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=61855&cat=500&ppuser=19690)
I had a few days of banging my head over this one. I convinced myself that I WAS going to learn to use brushes if it was the last thing I did. This layout proves to me that tenacity and stubbornness can pay off Wonder (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=65612&cat=500&ppuser=19690)
The last one is one of the latest pages I've done. It's also the only one that I have tweaked more than once. It's a step outside my normal style and it shows that I'm learning to live outside my 'comfort zone'.
Mommy's Lap (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=67352&cat=500&ppuser=19690)
I can't wait to see what we all learn over this next year :)

I came in today for a quick peak before starting my DSU 290 homework and stumbled onto this thread. I've ended up spending more then an hour devouring the gorgeous and meaningful LO's you've all posted! I couldn't even take time to post comments ... I just kept wanting to see the next and the next and the next! DSP and all of you do that for me ... uplift, inspire, take me through a full range of emotion. Its called touching others ... with your words, your art, your courage and an outstretched hand inviting others to come and share your journey.
Its been nearly a year since I stared scraping and found this fabulous place and thanks to so many of you, and to my wonderful supportive family its been a joyous ride!
I think this one is my favorite for so many reasons! Mostly though because its of my son and I love how it captures his spirit or perhaps that special something all children have -an ability to embrace and exhalt in the moment. There's something all embracing here that excites me.
Exhilaration (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=57789&cat=500&ppuser=13365)
This one is a favorite because it represents a very special visit with my sister. She is a little dynamo and I miss her so!
Baby Sister (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=60454&cat=500&ppuser=13365)
I love this one because of where the pics were taken and because I believe in magic. I also love it because I made the denim - I'm still so proud of it!:o
It was also the first time I entered a challenge here ... I was so nervous!
The River Dragon (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=45937&cat=500&ppuser=13365)
And just one more because its one of the first I ever did. It was for a woman thats become a very special friend. The layout expresses my love for her but also marks a journey into self discovery. A journey she planted my feet upon and walks along with me always.
These Special Friends of Spring (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=36559&cat=500&ppuser=13365)

debb, this was an interesting challenge. i ended up choosing different layouts than i would have expected. very interesting to look at a year's worth of scrapping.
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=68460&cat=500&ppuser=4086 is a favorite because i adore the photo, and i'm really happy with how my photo treatment worked. i wasn't sure i could pull it off with a heritage photo.
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=59153&cat=500&ppuser=4086 i love because of the photos and the memory and the colors. and because it was my first time lifting a girlfriend's layout.
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=53161&cat=500&ppuser=4086 surprised me as being a favorite of the year. but i love the memory and that my husband has more than once recreated favorite childhood moments to give to us.

in no particular order:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=51615&cat=500&ppuser=18387
This was the first realistic paper style/scraplifting chat I ever attended and participated in. I WOWed even myself with this one (and have not been able to do it since LOL!!)
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=44580&cat=500&ppuser=18387
This was the first time I was ever nominated top ten in ANYTHING! I worked really hard on this one. It was my first tutorial too (helping others to make bubbles).
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=47003&cat=1146
This was the first paper-style layout I ever did that I liked. I remember after printing it out I looked it over and over again because I could not believe how realistic it looked (like I could peel the ribbon right off). I also liked the memories that this one evoked as this was done in honor of her third birthday (we celebrate her FOURTH  tomorrow!!!).
-=-=-
Thanks so much for the walk down memory lane keeplearning! now I am off to see what others chose and why.
Awesome idea - and I've so enjoyed looking at so many layouts I've missed seeing - as well as the galleries of those who have posted here. As for my gallery, I like this layout (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=21202&perpage=90&ppuser=539), posted in January, mostly because of the lighting in the photo and the simplicity of the layout. One of my favorite scrapbooking subjects (besides my grandson and newborn granddaughter) are heritage - I have many, many photos of ancestors. This one (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=33790&perpage=90&ppuser=539) was done with a scan from a scan - I'm hopeful to someday scan the actual photo. After creating several layouts with this kit, I found a photo - and an idea - that I felt told a beautiful story about The Wings of Time (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=53145&perpage=90&ppuser=539).

I joined DSP a while ago but i bowed out for a while thinking that i wouldnt cut it at digital scrapping but i decided i couldnt stay away for long lol addictive as it is. Anyway my choices for my LO's done this year are:
In the Garden
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=64701&cat=500&ppuser=22839
This was the 1st challenge i plucked up the courage to enter since i have been back I did this with psp 7 and realised i still had a lot to learn.
Photo Challenge LO
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=65530&cat=500&ppuser=22839
I picked this one because this is one of my favourite photos I have had taken of me with Hailie although simple I just love it.
Mummy
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=66101&cat=500&ppuser=22839
I picked this one not really for the LO as such but for the meaning behind it this LO i created to show the biggest change in my life ever the birth of my 1st child.
As you can see i still have a long way to go to being as good as your wonderful ladies but this time i am not going to give up i am going to keep on going and learning day by day.
