For the first time I bought a brushes download. I put it into my PSP8 files in the brushes folder and extracted the files. Now when I go into my program and click on the brushes pallet, should my download be in my presets? Right now its not in there.

They should be. I use PSP 9. This is the way I do it. Are the brushes for PSP? If not, they might not work. Also, are they for PSP8? If they are older, they might not work. I love brushes but everything has to be in alignment for them to work.
Have you tried looking in the box that just shows a brush on it, not the one that says presets? Mine all show up just in the box with the picture of a brush on it. If that doesn't work, you'll need more expert help than I can offer. Oh, one other thing ... are they actually PSP brushes??? If not, PS brushes are a whole different animal and need more help than I can offer here.

I have done all the steps. My progam says that the file is not a supported type. I think that means that it will not work because it just not match up. These programs are like puzzle pieces and they only work one way. :( Everyone's advice is so great here. It is amazing to me how people who I really don't know are so willing to help. This is the greatest thing about life, and also the greatest thing about Digital Scrapbook Place!!!!!!!!!
Well, if they are PS brushes they have a .abr extension on the file in your folder and if they are PSP brushes they have a .jbr extension - that's one way to check. If they are not specifically for PSP, they are definitely a problem. Sorry we weren't able to help. If you go to Google and do a search for PSP brushes, there are tons of free sites that offer brushes .. just remember to note the name of the brush creator, so you can credit her or him when you use them!
Place them in the My Files (Documents)>My PSP 8 Files folder in the Brushes subfolder (extract the zip file there).
Make sure it's a JBR brush, not a later .pspscript and .pspbrush files for PSP 9 and above. If it's an ABR extension, that's for Adobe and you can try to import it with File>Import Brush, but that'll only work with PS 6 and earlier (most abr brushes are much later versions than that). If it's a brush for PSP 9 and up, you can also try to import it the same way, but I have no idea if that'll work; my guess is no.
So, if it's jbr, you're good. Just unzip in the My Files>My PSP 8 Files>Brushes folder and it'll appear in alphabetical order in the Brushes menu when you choose that tool. Let us know what type of file it is.
You CAN put it right in the PSP>Brushes folder, but I keep things I download out of the system folders; that's why the software creates the My PSP 8 Files folder when it installs, as a place to keep your downloaded extra goodies.
