Look at my signature line and there are two flairs to choose between.......let me know if I need to change anything, JD. Thanks for asking me to make them....it was an honor.
And yes, Debilou, they are clickable.

JD, are we limited to one page? I've been working on this subject but have about four pages! Must I pick just one?

PQ, I don't see the flairs, either, and can't find them hiding in galleries. BTW, your gallery is BEAUTIFUL--so wonderfully organized. Unfortunately, it won't let me sort by date to look for a flair.

JD, I'm so glad you opened this up to Google! As I was deciding how to do my LO for this week, I realized how many family stories I would love to share but I have no photos. I've found photos, though, of the places I'm telling about--even though they aren't my own images, they serve the purpose. It's really broadened my thinking.
Also forgot to say that I may have to miss the next chat. DH and I are headed up to the Big Sur Sunday and I'm not sure about connectivity. I'll try, though--I'm so stoked about this!! Thank you again, JD, for getting all of us re-motivated.
Also, what do you think about images from our various countries' digital archives? I've found a lot of high-res images in Library of Congress, NARA, etc., of areas I grew up in.
And what about shorpy.com? I enjoy the photos every day, but most of them were taken in Detroit, Pittsburgh, and other areas I've never lived so they wouldn't be useful for me personally as heritage. Might be a great resource for others, though.
And these aren't photos but might be good links for some:
For those who are Jewish or have Jewish ancestors, I don't know if this is part of paid Ancestry or in the free area, but it looks very interesting: AJHS Collections
For those in England: Ada Harland's Diary 1914 England

Sorry--last post.
Quite a few people have sent messages asking about the Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner I talked about at the chat. Disclaimer: I haven't used this even though I've now talked myself into buying it next week.
To recap, I started reading rave reviews about this little scanner on genealogy blogs. It costs $150, runs off an SD card (so computer platform isn't an issue) and can be used to scan pictures on walls, quilts, 3D items like jewelry, books, albums, paper scrapbooks, etc. You can see a video at Flip-Pal.
The only negative I've uncovered so far (for me) is that you can only use batteries. A few people haven't liked that it only scans an area the size of a half-page of paper and images have to be stitched together using the software that comes with the scanner. (For us, that should be a piece of cake.)
Here are some of the reviews that enticed me:
Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter (for those not familiar, this is a very respected source)
Dead Fred
Long Lost Relatives
Olive Tree Genealogy Blog
Squidoo
Scrapbook Product Reviews (good images of scanner in action)
Lucie's Legacy
TipSquirrel
Top Five Gifts for Genealogists
Discovering Startups
The We Tree Genealogy Blog
Ezine Articles
My Crafty Legacy
Facebook MobileScanning
At $150 US, this just seems to be too good to be true, but it sure looks like it's worth a gamble. I can't order for another week--if anyone gets it before then, please let us know if it meets expectations. Sure wish I had discovered it before I made my wish list for Santa!!

I got a Flip-Pal for Christmas!!! It is amazing. It is light and small (10x6.5 inches). Perfect for traveling. In the long ago past (Ha Ha) I've packed up my whole computer and scanner in attempts to gather family data. Down the road I got a laptop but still had to haul a scanner and suitcase of cables. I've even packed a full flatbed scanner in my suitcase and taken it on an airplane. The Flip-Pal is battery operated and has NO cords and is totally self contained. It is so easy to transport! It also comes with a SD to USB adaptor.
I'm looking forward to joining the Heritage Challenge but will not be able to make many of the chats. I'm still working and must get my beauty sleep.

I am trying to find a photo of the house I grew up in. I did find it on Google Earth of course, but I'd like an old photo to scrap with it. So I have lots of family albums to look in; maybe I'll dig them all out this weekend!

But JD's flair is not clickable and mine is....now, how to make a link so that you can copy and paste it....Mars knows how....seems to me that I remember something about parse and nonparse.....

ok, I do not know how to do it like Mars.....copy and paste the above into your signature line, then remove the XX's (there are 4 pairs of them) from this, and you will have a clickable flair.
