Well that is a great question...but I'm not sure you are going to find a simple answer to it. I use Adobe Photoshop Elements and I love it!!! (and I'm sure you will get responses from PSP lovers too)

One suggestion I have is to try out the trial versions...next I'd tryout photoshop elements and see how you like it.

Not sure if that really gives you the answer you were looking for...but GOOD LUCK

Either will do a wonderful job for digital scrapbooking - both are powerful programmes and have capabilities beyond what most of us require .
If you are not thinking of creating your own page elements you do not need to spend as much money - and certainly do not need to fork out the hundreds for photoshop - but PSP is not such a pricey programme and although having a relatively steep learning curve it will allow you to develop as a scrapbooker . PSE2 is also a great programme for digital scrapbooking as is Microsofts Digital Image Pro which is quite user friendly - Try them all out and see which one suits your method of scrapbooking best.

Lauren's exactly on point: it just depends on what you want to do.

I chose Photoshop full-version because I'm anal and like to make everything myself (and I mean everything! I upholstered my own couch, grind my own wheat, grow a garden, sew clothes, we build furniture, and the list goes on...it's a sickness, really )

I knew I'd never grow out of PS, it's the professional standard. So given my tendencies, I don't have a problem with a lot of work learning something new.

But the simpler programs, like HP Creative Assistant, for example, is strictly an assembly program. You don't make your own elements, you use premade and assemble them creatively with that software.

What do YOU want to do? How much time do you have?

Oh, yeah, I got distracted again

DSU offers intro classes on PS, PSP, & PSE, so you can sign up for $20 each and learn a ton! Start with PSP, and then you can try PSE if you like.

I have a few students taking 2, or even all 3!
