Four years ago, they were inundated with letters, cards, boxes, banners......all sorts of things to remind them of the support for their service to this country. Naturally, the families still take care of their soldiers, but I think it is so important to them to know that the people here still appreciate what they do.
So each time I receive a PM that contains a comment about appreciation for the troops, or one asking about the guys, I always copy and paste it into an email letter for them. I know how much it means to them.....especially coming from their "granny dolls".
Didn't mean to get on my soapbox here but it's been awhile since I did, and I know that you will understand.
Good night dear ladies.......hugs and prayers for all in need ......and if you don't mind...throw in an extra tonight for the guys.

Is it time for a "We Appreciate Our Troops" challenge in the granny's gallery? Whether people support the war or not - no one has any issues with supporting our people who are there. Maybe the soldiers and support staff would appreciate being able to get online and go and visit a whole gallery of posts of people wanting to say "We're thinking of You." I know we have some scrappers there as well!!

Gosh, Doris. I didn't ask. I just assumed that if they had a Flattie in either the Flatties Gallery or the Grannies Gallery (some are there), that it meant they were willing to go on any trip, so I took them all (and two each of Lindyroz and Nicole ). No one has complained. They seemed to enjoy themselves.
I'd love to go with your kitties on a train ride. Can't wait.

I second (or third or whatever) the idea of letting our troops know we support them. Kasha, what do you and Daniel think would be best??

I need to upload them, along with the other LOs I did while I was on vacation. Lucky for me, the bears all stayed away, but maybe your red threads worked a little too well, we didn't even get to see one! Isn't that one thing you are supposed to see at Yellowstone? A bear? :ron: We did see Bison, (or Bis-ON like Zachie kept saying. ), a coyote, lots of elk, a few moose, bald eagles and other smaller animals. We floated part of the Snake river which was lovely, until it started to pour after 2 hours of a 3 hour trip, and it got SOOOO cold, both Joshie and I almost had hypothermia, it took us forever to warm up. The funny part was we were on the same tube and it had a hole in it from the beginning, so picture me laying on the tube, with my backside down in the hole so far you can barely see me, holding my finger over the hole for 3 hours, while Josh jumped all over me and the tube. Now that I am warm, I can laugh! Hugs for all who need them, I will be back after I get caught up and some things uploaded.

You were soooooooo missed! Glad you had a great time; waiting for the layouts! (I'm hoping for one about the tube with a hole!)

Gundi! I wish I'd known you were going to Yellowstone! I live real close to the park and go there frequently. In fact, my DH was there Thurs and Fri for a Geology class he's taking for his Masters in Science Education degree! We could have met at Old Faithful or Mammoth or something! Shucks!!!!!
If anyone is vacationing in Yellowstone, please let me know! I'd love to meet you and tell you the best places to go. I love Yellowstone!
BTW if you went up into the Lamar Valley, east of Tower, you should have seen bears, but maybe it's too hot for them to come down that far. We saw what we believe to be a grizzly and her cub at Gibbon Falls at the beginning of June. Awesome animals!
Welcome back!

Quick post before I sleep
Crys, Dags, Beth--those layouts had me laughing so hard! Thanks--I needed that!
This Arkansas trip is a real quickie--Seven hours driving, 24 hours here, then seven hours back tomorrow...but I'm glad I made it. I know it helps my mom to have me here even for a short time, and my dad is about the same. He still knows who I am (mostly ); conversations however are just pretty fragmented. Interesting, though--he wanted to know if we were leaving for Russia tomorrow.
Off to bed now!

Take care of yourself on the way home. Pull into some safe place to sleep when you need to. We need you here safe and sound.
I know what you mean about interesting conversations with your dad. Had some with my Mom also. She woke up in the hospital once, looked around and didn't recognize anything, and asked if she was in Africa. (She'd never been to Africa, so that would explain the strange surrounds.)

Here's the first LO of our trip. The second one says it is 125KB on my computer, but it must really be 125KB and a little bit, cuz DSP won't let me upload. But after I get us some food and clear a place to walk, I will resize again.

Well, I did a few layouts about the drive-through animal park we go to quite a lot. Here they are if you want to look. I love Meryl's Namibia kit for doing these layouts! I think I can do quite a few more of them too! Make a whole album of them!
