Lynnie and I just got home from The Women of Faith, Amazing Freedom conference in Anaheim, there were around 5,000 women there this evening and one of them was GabbyGee, who I got to meet. YAY. We are back there in the morning when we think there will be about 10,000 attending. Some great stories to hear and wonderful voices to hear. Very uplifting.
So pleased about your news Joyce, thank be to God for answering our prayers.
Crys, I can't imagine what it must have been like for you and your DH, what an awful awful experience for you all.
Vallie I hear you re that disgusting critter, I had the same thought myself (hee hee) shows where our minds are.
Thanks for those useful links Fran and Inky.
Been playing some more on my new laptop and with CS3 and came up with this LO which I'm really chuffed with. Tough Cookie TFL

Here is my first draft
I awoke in the middle of the night and came down here. Decided to work on the layout I wanted to create similar to yours, PQ Fran, but I didn't get anywhere NEAR what you did. Actually I got lost in the directions ! I'm NOT done but I do like the way it is turning out nonetheless. I need a title ... since this layout is about the time our daughter, Michelle, had with us during the death of her grandfather a few months back. We had that quality time together and wanted to express that in the layout. Have no idea what to call it though... it needs a main title. I wanted to use the Romantic font but don't know how to get it in my program
Here it is:
LIFE
Think I'll go back to bed now!

Fran, your instructions were awesome, I have saved them and will study when I have time:twins:. Thirteen months of casts, me thinks you are having your fair share of breaks
I was drinking coffee when I saw that very ugly picture of some critter and nearly ended up spraying the screen....i know .... I know ...don't drink while reading here!!!
Back to more reading.

He's asked me to post his LO's for him and let the grannys know so here's Bug's Gallery. A few things really surprised on the LO's. He must have been watching and paying attention to what I've been doing with our LO's because he did pretty good for a young fella on these, and then did a few very unexpected things with some elements that tickled me. He even takes the time to write up a sheet on each LO so we know the kit, designer and font used.
This child is truly a GIT with one difference... Guy In Training, LOL...

To Feather in PSE 3. You can create a feathered selection with the Elliptical Marquee, Rectangular Marquee, Lasso, Polygonal Lasso, or Magnetic Lasso tool. You can also add feathering to an existing selection by using the Select menu. Feathering effects are apparent when you move, cut, copy, or fill the selection.
The feather is found under your select menu....use after making a selection with any selection tool, then paste to new layer to see your results. Good lucky PM if you need more help

OK....I see what Vallie was talking about now! (much doesn't get past me, does it! )
My original post was: "Lindy....have you considered a bike girlfriend?"
Now, the insertion of a simple comma....."Lindy.....have you considered a bike, girlfriend?"
Yeah, Val....we have names for those here too. Lindy, the version with comma is what I intended.

I'm so glad that Daggie quoted Lindy's post to point us to Bug's Gallery, otherwise I would have missed it totally. So is it just Jill and I having the sundae effect of bananas and nuts with our thread? I'm guessing so, since I've not seen any other posts about it.

Jae Dee.....Wonderful news re your tests yesterday! and for you!!
Jill...any word about the results from your tests?? and for you.
I'm pulling a Vallie here and stomping my feet and using the "because I said so", that all of my wonderful friends here stay healthy and well. (Along with a good healthy dose of red threads and prayers included.)
Oh... those red threads worked wonders for me on the test yesterday....I got an A ....not a 4.0 type A...more like a 3.5, but I'll take it this time. The clinical stuff is tough and I'm just hoping I can hang.
PQ Fran....your blinkies are cute! The DET round 2 is funny and you cracked me up too!
Today is my Joshie's birthday, my baby is 23 . He wants to go to Indy for dinner and go shopping for more career type clothes today, so I better get moving.
Have a great day/night everyone....

THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Now I am at STEP #3:
3. I used the antiquing overlay pack by Lauren Bavin - that antiquing pack is where all the scratches and wrinkles came from. I put one antiquing overlay on top of the background paper and one on top of the focal photo. Then I changed the hue/saturation of the top antiquing overlay to blend with the colors in my photo. I filled the second, bottom antiquing overlay with white. Then I decreased the opacity of both overlays until I had the look I wanted. I erased the antiquing that was on top of Bia - I do not like to scratch or distort the people in my photographs.
AND this is where I am also confused! Nothing like going step by step for instructions, heh?? LOL What is the "focal photo"? Is that my photo??? I am SO confused!!! OK, do I put the overlay on top of the background and change the hue/sat. to that and then put the overlay on top of my photo and change the hue/sat. to that??? and then do I put the photo on top of the background? SO
These are the first 3 steps:
1. I selected a photo that I thought would look cool if it was "dreamy." Then I took that photo and I cropped the edges with the feather turned up to 250. Then I pasted it onto an 8x8 canvas. I did this. I pasted it on an 8x8 (transparent) canvas. Hope that is right!
2. I selected a background paper that I thought would compliment the colors in the photo. The background paper is going to show through because the edges are sheer. Also did this.
3. I used the antiquing overlay pack by Lauren Bavin - which I can no longer find in the store. I do not know what to tell you here - that antiquing pack is where all the scratches and wrinkles came from. Here is where I am stumped! again!
