Vallie, you are almost right. You don't get phlebotomies because your blood has too much iron. The iron is stored in the organs, not the bloodstream. By getting phlebotomies (removing blood) you force the body to make new blood which uses the reserve stored in the organs. It can and would be fatal if not treated. If anyone is interested in more information, go to www.americanhs.org. The really sad thing is that it has nothing to do with your blood but few hospitals will use it. We have to pay them to take it and then they throw it away...all the while begging for blood donations. It has been proven that this is a genetic defect, not an illness that can be transmitted with blood transfusion. Okay, I will get off my soapbox now! That really does infuriate me! Some medical professionals are realizing this and do use it, Kaiser is one.

Hello, everyone. I am an extremely new newbie and somehow I got an email that linked me to you (maybe Meryl?). I am a granny and you ladies seem like you have lots of fun. Do you have room for one more? Not sure if I understand about "threads" and things, so I just clicked on post reply and hope this works.

Hey I made chicken soup today...sending you some Gabby, Meryl, Yahlos, and have about 8 containers more that can be sent out... in fact I will send it to the Grannie thread in this post...just come in and get it. Love that Chicken soup. I make it from scratch...what ever that is LOL...but never make it exactly the same two times in a row. It is just what ever I have and the spices etc. The secret to good home made soup is celery in the stock....just gives it a specail taste. If I do it with out it is never as good. I downloaded the Virtual Photographer, but didn't install the 11 or 12 other attachments that were there, so I need to go back and reinstall the whole thing again...That's ok it will give me some good training...on what I do not know but it will be ok.
My hubby went to the dr. today, blood pressure still down but not as bad as it was. Still in pain and the upped his pain patches, then his blood oxygen has been down for quite some time and they ordered oxygen 24/7 for him. He has canisters we can take when we go to the Dr or out anyplace that will last for 4 hours each. He has been on oxygen at night for several months. Darn. Hated to see this happen. He was upset at first but is doing ok now that it is here.

You've come to the right spot! Welcome to the granny thread Lil's Nana!
Probably time for re-introduction. I'm JaeDee, totally addicted to DSP and the granny thread. I'm married, 3 sons and 3 great DILs, 4 wonderful grandchildren. (One family lives in Japan ) I never paper scrapped but I love this digi stuff. I am a school librarian by day and a Digi Scrapper by night!
Dont forgot Out Heritage Chat tonight at 10 PM EST. There are 30 LOs to choose from!

Hi, JaeDee
Glad to meet you, JaeDee. I am married, have 3 boys (well actually I should call them young men), ages 30, 28 and 27, and 1 beautiful grandbaby who will be 3 in May. No DIL's yet, maybe someday. We homesteaded in Maine, built our own house, lived off our land and raised our boys. Now we are in New York, so different!! But it does allow me to have hight speed internet (only very slow dial-up in Maine). I did do some paper scrapping but not a lot, and I am already so addicted to this digi scrapping. And I have to come clean and admit to all you ladies up front, I have the leaking problems too

Hi Lil's Nana!!! I'm Gabby - also called GG or other such shortened versions of my name
First of all - I should say - I'm not a granny LOL. I don't even think I'm CLOSE to being a granny. (Trust me that's a good thing - I'm only 30 ROFL). I have 3 lovely children - 4 if you count hubby (and i do sometimes) and 5 if you count my dog (and believe me I ALWAYS do lol). I work in a Staffing Agency - national accounts division - where I read contracts all day and implement them.
And that's about it....oh...and i really love digiscrapping - even more than paper scrapping lol

Howdy!
Hi to you, GG. One thing that attracted me to this forum was the energy and spirit which you all seem to have, whether you are young or just young at heart. I know what you mean---I feel like I have raised 4 boys, not 3! And not counting all the farm animals and pets over the years. I was a pediatric nurse for many years, and then as a late bloomer I went back to school and became a family therapist. Can't work now, fibromyalgia and severe spinal arthritis, but I keep busy. Only problem with DS is I forget to get up from the computer and walk around. Hubby comes home some days and finds me frozen to the keyboard!

Vallie, will you buy me something, too? I never get presents any more!
JaeDee, I guess I missed that you were a librarian! I'm not, but I go to the library about twice a week. That probably makes us related somehow or other, don't you think?
Lil's Nana, welcome. I'm pretty new here myself. I have two sons (31, 33), 2 grandsons (1,3), one step-daughter(37), one step-son(46), 4 step-grandsons (24,24,24,22), 2 step-granddaughters (10,27), 5 step-great-granddaughters (8,6,5,3,7 mos.) and one step-great-grandson (7) And that's a lot to keep track of!
Greenfinger, thanks so much for the clues on VP. I got them all loaded and did the Before and After challenge. I had a little trouble, was about to PM you and figured it out on my own!
You can check out my efforts at this filter thingie. Jeremy & Sonny
Yolanda, you're looking pretty spiffy, girl. So very slim and trim! Hope you're improving daily.
Carma, your soup sounds so yummy. I'll trade some of my cream of broccoli for some of your chicken soup.

Hello there, GrandmaScrap. How DO you keep track of everyone?? What an amazing family you are blessed with. I sort of "met" you---you left a comment on the first LO I ever did and posted, thank you. I want to know where everyone gets all the great images attached to their names and the stuff that is at the end of their posts. Is it hard to do? I need a little bling in my posts.

Good for you, scamptx!
Good for you scamptx  I thought about going to the Heritage chat but I chickened out. I have never been in a chat room and am doing good just to post replies here. Maybe next week. What the heck are flatties and can I have one too? I really could use being flat.
