Thanks for the link Jan.....guess I didn't look hard enough. I'm trying to keep my mind occupied today and work on some layouts.....I also have a mean case of scrappers block... nothing is coming out the way I want it to. Crys and Jill, please throw me in the mix for a few extra cells...I so need them.
Karen, I'm so sorry about your granddaughter. I've seen some of your posts before about her, but didn't know the whole story. You are so right about taking the time to tell someone that you love them ~ something we should do often.
Jill.....Lizzy went to the Florida Keys this week...lucky girl that she is. Don't know about the others though.....just wondering about them myself.
I am working on the next batch of love boxes to send to Iraq and thought that I would print out a couple of flat grannies to send with each monthly shipment. I thought I might write each flattie name on the back of it, where you're from and just a few words about you....what do you think?? If I send 2 or 3 flatties a month, then each flatty would make it to Iraq and definitely make a young soldier's day. I suppose I should add that if you do not want to go to Iraq, please let me know in the post or PM......I'd totally understand. I've had one short phone call from my son since they arrived in Iraq from Kuwait about 10 days ago. I'm still not quiet sure where they are at in Iraq, but have a pretty good idea from the "code talk" my son and I work out in advance of deployment. He should soon be able to check in more often and give me more details about what is happening there.
Well, I'm going to try giving this scrapping thing another shot before calling it a night. Take care dear ladies.....and heeding Karen's good advice......

Trying to take care of business here, while watching the College Basketball Tournament. The Old Dear is in the other room watching the Hallmark Channel. What seems to be wrong with our relationship? Right now I am watching my Alma Mater, Michigan State University but I also watch other teams that are doing well, including my adopted Florida Gators.
Kasha, so sad to hear about the pall that was over your party. I would love to visit with a serviceman (or woman) who needs a hug even if it IS a paper hug.
Evergreen, I want to go to New Zealand in the worst way. No...not WORST! I will behave myself I promise!
Karen, FTRV, that bit you just told us about your granddaughter is chilling. I cannot pretend to imagine.
On a better note, I am hoping you can show me how to make that ice cream this summer. We eat WAY too much of the "bad" ice cream and I would welcome something with less guilt.
GrandmaScrap, I like the simplicity of the layout you mentioned but if you are unhappy you could add a texture to the background or a fine, large swirl to pull it together. or enlarge the title. You can always undo it if you like the lovely simple layout you posted.
The other day I remembered writing an article with a couple of layouts for Doris Castle. Today I sent her an email to see if it had been published. Well it WAS. I should have been keeping up with the blog on her site. The article is about Heritage Scrapping. I would be so proud if some of my bestest friends here would take a peek and leave a response.
My Article
It does seem like things are coming up roses for me all of a sudden.

Karen, so sorry for your loss. I'm sure your heart still aches. Indeed, we never miss a chance to tell our loved ones how much we do love them. Another "don't forget" is those pictures.
My DH's daughter (who did NOT care to have her picture taken) and her husband celebrated their 25th anniv. by having many professional pictures taken. Two days later she was killed in a car accident. (Three years ago this past Monday.) We continue to be so grateful for those very poignant pictures!

LauraLou, oops, your team is falling behind. Those Big Ten teams keep getting eliminated. We've been watching the game all evening, first at our friends' and now finishing up at home.
Thanks so much for the tips on my layout. I'll give 'em a try!
Fancy clothes for the birthday celebration sound great. Where do you ladies get your outfits?
BTW, everyone deserves roses now and then!

Running through the posts--Can't think of words that would adequately express my thoughts on the experiences this group has had, and is having, dealing with life, death, illness and yet celebrating and supporting one another with laughter and cheer.
I am grateful to have found this place where I am constantly humbled, amused, entertained and inspired.
A big round of hugs to all of us!

GrandmaScrap - I can relate. I spent hours on a layout and trashed it. Started over and got a headache doing a redo that is just going to have to do.

GrandmaScrap -
What a story and I am so sorry for your loss too. Doesn't it almost seem sometimes like we know without knowing?

Laura Lou -
You write very well and I enjoyed the article.
We will definitely have ice cream this summer. Our new dates to be at Sleeping Bear are from the middle of June until just after Labor Day - longer than we were told at first and longer than we normally like to stay still, but hopefully it will be okay. Would you believe RV friends of ours met a woman in Florida who is going to be at working at Sleeping Bear this summer too? Small world, huh?

wishes and prayers
I just wanted to post some freebie links to some kits that I made but I started reading to catch up on the thread.. Wow. It never fails to amaze me the things that all of our lives we seem to have taken for granted, never thinking that they would one day not be there. The heart ache never really fades away. But in our hearts I dont think we ever really want it to totaly heal. That would almost be like forgetting and we can never allow our selves to forget. So much tragidy in life. But... So many things to be grateful for too. My prayers and wishes go out to all of you who are in need of a little extra lift.
Here are the freebies that were ment to be my original post. lol I hope that you can use at least part of them to make your BEAUTIFUL pages!

yeh, my virtual home is much tidier than my real home! I changed my avatar, it took ages fiddling around with codes. I put the picture on photobucket and they give 3 different codes depending on what you do with it, of course I chose the wrong one on several occasions! But finally got it sorted. It is Sunday here now, I think I will get rid of that little pest in a minute! Might look for a easter bunny.
Freda, gosh you live in a great place, your photographs are gorgeous!! We certainly are having a ball!
Sorry your colleague had that awful accident Kasha I can understand everyone must have been a bit glum. You do all look great in the photo though, very professional and upbeat! And ... what's a Wabash!!??
RV, MMMMMMMMM.... ice-cream soup!!!!!!! Of course, it is low fat, that means we can eat twice as much!!
Evergreen, I guess we do look a bit like Kiwi supporters, but .... When in Rome!!! or Auckland! Rome!!!! Now is Dags going there???? Felix would look good in a toga! That's a good idea about the flat party clothes, we could have flat birthday cake and flat champagne! ( )
Kasha, my flat self would love to go in a soldiers love box I'm sure they would prefer a younger flattie but it does get terribly lonely in the barracks ... at night ... in the dark .... alone ..... !!! Well, my son Dan, will be happy, Kimi Raikonnen just won the F1 Grand Prix, Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Justscraps and Yhalos big hugs for you!
