I got the cabbage on the grill recipe. MMMM! Thanks!!! We made hobo dinners on the grill last week: Ground turkey pattie, onion, mixed veggies. Haven't made them in years and they hit the spot.
We are off to a potluck dinner for the park volunteers. I'm bringing two pinto bean pies.
I went to Traverse City with D, one of the volunteers, and shopped all day. We found the Sara Lee outlet store we couldn't find last time. Bought a large, low carb cheesecake for $5! Might need to take Laura and Fran there. They will be here in just a few days!!!!
I know we will be going to the Cherry Republic. They have free wifi and all sorts of yummies there.
Hugs to all those who need them.
I feel awful about having so little time to comment on layouts and do layouts and hang out here. Just a quick message and off I go again. :-( I wish all of you were going to be here on Sunday!

(posted by Omi) Funny that when we first started teaching metrics in the schools, we said we used the English measurement system. All the books now call it the Standard system of measurement -- guess because the English don't want it any more
|
Omi, we called it Imperial Measurement, and the English do still want it but it's been forced upon us by the EUC (European Union Commission). Many shopkeepers have been fined for still selling in pounds, ounces, yards, and gallons.
Now on the same theme, when living in Antigua, my then, future MIL sent me some wholesome American recipies to ensure I fed her boy well. Can you imagine what I was thinking when the recipe told me to use half a cup of half and half. I used a coffee cup to measure the other ingredients but what the heck was half and half, half and half of what????? I was so confused.
I loved the funnies Laura, made me leak a bit.:twins: :twins:
I'm wondering how your CT jobs are going Yolanda????
I'll be having my 2 neices to stay over this weekend so I'm hoping to get some fresh foder for LO's and if the weather is as awful as it has been for the past couple of month, I'm going to introduce them to digi scrapping. Watch out for their LO's 'cos I will post them for you all to see.
:twins:
Hugs prayers and red threads for all my cyber friends especially Marcee at this time. Anyone heard of Cursillo Palancas??????

Mars loved your summary of the posts.....I had to just give up for the 3 weeks I missed when on vacation . I did what someone else said they do I went back 2 pages, then went again for two more pages. I just hope I didn't miss out on too much by not reading everything. But 24 days worth was more than I go do at this time. I do have a question....what is WOS? I have been able to keep up this week so far and have put my two cents in several times. I truly do enjoy all the stories and such....Will miss Vallie and Gundi if they truly do not plan on being with us for a while....Please come on home Vallie and Gundi! Prayers go out to Marcee and her mom and anyone else that needs them.

Red threads going out for Marcee and her mother ...I have been thinking of Marcee a lot lately, I just LOVE her Charlee set (which I bought during the CIJ specials) and have been playing with it and a photo of one of my cute little grandsons ( the layout is not quite measuring up to the excellence of the kit though
MARS!!!! . I love your summary!!! ...could I have one every day do you think??????
Hi GabbyGee, lovely to see you posting again . Now we need you to chase up your mother in law , we are missing her.
Nicole, love your funny this morning, especially the bit about doing as he is told (of course he did) . Re your mother's W post: She is very clever, I thought and thought of what I could write that would be suitably clever enough to reply to her magnificent post, but sadly I wasnt up to the challenge
Juast add sugar, your kit is lovely, youve done a terrific job. I left comments in the gallery but cant download at the moment...my internet server THROTTLED me
Kay pleased to hear your daughter is happy and how great it would be for you, and them, to have a grandmonkey within hugging distance. Hope your dream house eventuates eventually( ). I came across koeksusters last night!!! The book I am reading is about South Africa...I got so excited when I saw that word in there .
I wonder what Kim (yvspeck) is up to, havent heard from her for ages. Her foray into the Power Scrapping realm might have been too much for her (dangerous stuff that PS ). I think she was going on a trip maybe? Red threads tugging Kim
Carma, WOS stands for "what Omi said". One of her posts was a blanket goodwill wish for all the Grans, she said it so well that we are using it to express our good thoughts for everyone in this thread. I'll go back and see if I can find it.
For now WOS

For those wondering, the young man in my Our Dad Flies an Apache layout is my younger DS, an Apache pilot for the US Army Reserves. So, then, of course those are my two DGSs with him.
We're all so proud of him. He's a firefighter by trade and DDIL is an ER nurse. They're also the same family that bought the farm and are expecting a third child in Dec.
Imagine being a little boy who can say "My Daddy is a fireman, flies helicopters, camps and hunts and we have a farm!"
Those, plus a nurse for a mom, just about covers all the basis, doesn't it?

Carma, I can't find the post referred to, sorry. OMI CAN YOU SAY IT AGAIN PLEASE??????
I looked up Cursillo Palanca and this is what I found:
In the Cursillo Movement, we use the word palanca to designate the spiritual force represented by voluntary prayers and sacrifices which are done individually or in community with the aim of obtaining the grace of conversion.
In the same way that the lever enables a person to lift something which is beyond his or her strength, the prayers and sacrifices allows the apostle to accomplish more than he or she could alone. The palancas help to overcome the resistance to grace for those for whom we pray. Palancas help to make life arise in abundance.
This is a mystery of faith. To offer a palanca is to put into practice the dogma of the Communion of Saints. As mentioned by Pius XII in his Encyclical on the Mystical Body
I therefore considered my facetious post unsuitable and deleted it...hope no one was offended.

Hi ladies - I spoke to Lynne on Hello the other night and she was travelling with work and due back home on Friday, I imagine she must be very busy.
Firstly Shara (J/add Sugar) your kit is absolutely gorgeous you are a very talented lady, I am going to be able to make loads of use of it cause I have hundreds of dog photos that I can scrap - my membership to the grannies club is my furry grandson Max and he makes a very handsome subject.
Now because I am trying not to waffle I have forgotten what I was going to comment on !
