Casual Friday

is being retooled due to lack of participation...

We were thinking that we'd do it every other week now, instead of every week, leaving the avatars up on Friday ONLY.

Thoughts?

Either way sounds good to me I like it every week and try to participate best I can...but I think it is fun so every other week works for me too!!!

my problem is that I usually forget to do my avatar most of the time. bad valeri bad bad valeri!! I still think its a fun idea though

Maybe it's just me, but I can't find the announcement of the theme usually. I wonder if there couldn't be an easier way than searching the messages.

Have always tried to participate, but usually changed back after Friday. Maybe people would pay better attention to a special occasion avatar - specially announced - like one for Halloween or Margie or Amanda's birthdays - or even one on our own birthday.

I like Casual Friday. I change my avatar on Friday and usually change it back sometime on Monday.

My thoughts - I like it but it took me a long time to figure it out. I agree with one of the other posters - I have to work too hard to find the theme each week. I still don't have a regular avatar to switch back too! LOL I loved some of the recent themes but couldn't participate because I don't have ready access to pictures from the ancient past (i.e. me as a baby, my wedding, etc...)
Here are my suggestions:
1) Make the theme one week to make a regular avatar of yourself (so we all get one made)
2)Post the theme on the main page each week where you can easily find out what it is. If that is not possible make it a new thread each week so it comes up under new posts.
3)Limit the number of times you ask for pictures from the ancient past (I'm guessing most of us well respond better to themes that we already have on digitial).
4)Make it clear that we are to be back to ourselves by Monday (keep it over the weekend though so we have time to see everyone's work).

Thanks for all the input!

As for the weekly theme before the forum revamp- it was always posted in The Gathering Place and it was stickied to the top of the forum.

It has been posted on The Main Place for at least the last month, possibly longer.

I know its hard to access some of these pictures, but it was also really hard to come up with 9 months worth of themes

I've had them listed out since April.

As for changing them back, it has always been said that they are for the weekend, but sometimes people forget to change them back. It's hard I know. I forget sometimes myself.

I really have enjoyed casual Fridays and learning a bit more about everyone. Plus I've found some pictures I had forgotten about when going through them looking for an avatar to make.

Maybe we need to make some suggestions on upcoming ones? How about figuring out a month's worth at a time and posting it the last week of each month??? Can Casual Friday be a forum instead of just a thread...would that help people to jump in and participate???

One suggestion I had was to do "signs of the changing seasons" (fall for northern hemisphere, spring for southern). If we do some brainstorming, maybe we can come up with a whole bunch to get us through September and maybe October.

Just my random thoughts on this...

OH! And another thought (why is it that another thought comes to you after you hit the send button??!)...

Maybe have two options for each time...sort of like the BOM. I just haven't had anything to work for some of the casual Fridays.

here is a theme idea...How about your favorite layout (your own then of someone elses???)

And one quick question...why does it matter if the avatars never get changed back??? I understand what casual friday is about but hmm...maybe we can just change it to fun with avatars then changing it back won't be an issue.

I like having the avatars last longer than just friday or the weekend..b/c sometimes I don't get online that weekend & don't get to see everyones.
