Wowsers~

I stumbled upon this website and fell in love!
I'm from Packer Territory (and I do love my Packers), and am new to digital scrapbooking. I started regular scrapping about 4 years ago when I started to notice changes in my mom, who lives with us in a mil apt. We scrapped daily until her Alzheimers kicked into high gear. Now if we do a page (8x8 and very simple) a week we're doing well.
I have tons of money invested in traditional tools (Sizzix, alphabets, stamps-you name it, I probably have it). But I found myself looking for stuff more than actually scrapping, and figured there had to be a better way. I stumbled across a how to book for Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8.0, which I have, and sat down.
Ugh, what a learning curve! (But it is good to learn new things like this to ward off the evil Alzheimers demon, which, incidently, got both parents.)
But I did 2 pages in less time than it would have taken to find paper, and although the results are simplistic, they aren't that bad. Best Part? No clean up!!! I love that!
Once I figure out how things work, and how to upload a page, I'll do it soon, so that I can get feedback. And tips. Like how to improve the torn edge.
Oh, and I have questions. Like what paper do you print digital layouts onto?
I ramble. I'll try to keep that in check.
Oh, yeah, I'm married to the best guy in the world, for 29 years now, and have to kids--Bronwyn, who just got married in June, and Mike, who has been married 7 years. No grandchildren yet. But I'm honing those scrapping skills, cuz I just know the day will come!!

Welcome! I'm so sorry about your parents, but how wonderful that you scrap with your mother. I can't wait to see your first pages, it's so fun to get comments! (and addicting too ?

I either print mine into hard back books or have them printed at a photo lab. I used to print them on my inkjet on photopaper, but my printer isn't that great and I just like the lab quality better. You should check out the tutorials here, they are great (even have some for tearing edges)

Welcome to DSP. You'll love it here. I scrap 12 by 12, and often print at 8 by 8 on photo paper using an HP photosmart printer. I love the results. I also have a wide format HP photosmart printer and can print 12 by 18 inches. I do print this size for special projects.

Welcome!! I am so sorry to hear about your parents. That must be hard. I can't wait to see your work. Digi scrapping is super addictive - and you can actually get layouts way more complex than paper scrapping ever could! Be sure to ask any questions you might have!

Welcome! As Sharon said, your story is a great reminder of why we all do this.

If you have any questions, check out all the tutorials linked up at the top right, like here's one on how to upload that first layout we all want to see!
