My laptop started to die a couple of weeks ago. Because of work I had to find a laptop with XP. I got a really good deal with Gateway. However, I also noticed Dell had some models that can be purchased with XP as a special order. I bought a machine that would operate with Vista if my company ever upgrades, but for now I have the security of XP. HTH -c-

I asked around to others about this as I too am wanting to get another puter over the next year. I was sent these links so you might want to check them out. I do not have CS3 but maybe someday.

I've got a really long post with no real answers....I saw a wikipedia entry that said that photoshop cs and up were okay on vista...and I saw elements 5 in the store with a sticker that said it was good with vista. But haven't tried anything.
I'm in a pickle because my copy of photoshop cs is at it's maximum number of installs - so I'd loose it on my personal computer to put it on the laptop I'll have to share....but I'll be away from my computer for 3 months so I _need_ a program to scrap with. I have Elements 2 and 3 but don't think either of those will work on vista...(If anybody knows anything about that I'd love to know)
We just got a laptop for an internship over the summer with vista and it's very pretty, but a little slow. My DH tried to take vista off and install xp which was faster, but we had some problems with the hardware so put vista back. It hasn't been 'buggy' for us really, but it -is- a new windows operating system, which generally means problems...If you go vista I'd recommend at least 2 gigs of ram, we only have 1 and it's practically maxed out all the time. But Vista is pretty, and someday all the programs will work with vista and not xp.

I don't know if this will help or not but I'm just gonna add my two cents. My son is a computer service tech... and he states.."Vista is a pain in the ..., it has bugs galore.is a major memory hog and most software programs currently on the market are not 100% compatible. XP was the same when it first came out and didn't really become stable until the service pak 2 came out which was about 2 years after the first version. " So, anyway, just something to think about.

How about i download a trail of CS2 on my mums vista laptop and see what happens?

Im that "friend" that little kiwi was talking about.

EDIT: Mum has to be home to install it, its one of those laptops with a finger print scanner and the kids desktop is a limited one. I do know of a way to get older programs to run on newer OS's so if i have to do it that way (and its already built in) i will teach you.

Nor do i lol. I hope it works, on the adobe website i found that elements 5 will work but i haven't tested it out.

As for bugs, it will be when something new comes out, its a matter to see if happens to you. I have two vista computers at home (laptop and PC) and had no major problems.
