Printing Issues

Hi - I'm new to digi scrapping and am having problems with printing my pages. The tops and/or side are getting cut off!! I'm creating 8x8 image (w/in an 8x10 doc) then saving as .jpg and uploading to Walmart for printing. Tops are always getting cut off. I added some beautiful overlays to a 5x7 photo and lost the image all the way around. What am I doing wrong???

Thanks for any guidance!

With Walmart mass producing you can sometimes get crummy results. Have you tried taking them in personally and talking to the person asking them not to stretch it?

If you can't get Walmart to work, you may want to try somewhere else to print.

try taking it in to the store and do NOT pay for prints that aren't up to your satisfaction. Work with the lab manager to a resolution.

If they're being cut of, you can make a manual "bleed" area. all pros include a bleed area on their work. Just make the image slightly smaller than the canvas you're using, or make the edge wider than you need so the printer can fill the area and cut off a little w/o affecting the print.

Does anyone know or is familiar with Kodak Printers? I saw on TV where Kodak was offering Kodak Easyshare 5300 for $149.99. It is a scanner and printer and supposedly saves you tons of money of ink cartridges! $14.99 color cartridge that has all the colors in and and $9.99 for black cartridge. It said no stores carry it right now well that wasn't true I did a search and found Best Buy had them. They were presently sold out!
I have been trying to find out more looking for reviews. Could find nothing in Consumer's magazine!

My printer is working right now and keeping my fingers crossed it is aboput 2 1/2years old and the way I print usually don't last longer than maybe three years.

I am not familiar with Kodak printers but I know that I will never buy another printer that doesn't have separate cartridges for each color.

Amanda, I am curious why not? I have owned two Epsons and those had separate cartridges and it seemed as if I was always replacing them and they were expensive. I presently own Canon Pixma 4200 and this has separate cartridges. I only have to replace those when indicated. These are not as expensive as Epson was and has a lot of features I like. However, as I said I have had this printer for awhile and wonder how much longer it will last. Seems to me you can get printer cheap but they charge quite a bit for cartridges.

Also, I notice seem to be pushing 3 in one. That I am not really interested in cause if one item goes out you have no use of the other two. What appealed to me in the Kodak is the idea of cheaper cartridges true it does two things. Scans and prints.

I don't jump to buying things without fully investigating and getting to know what is offered. I can't afford to be replacing as this electronic and anything to do with computers seem to want you to do. It is strictly a money making thing as far as I am concerned. They want you to buy and then don't give you service as I have discovered on many things, software, etc. Anyway, that's my outlook. Thanks.

Even if a tri-cartridge is cheaper, you will often be replacing it because one color is empty even if the other colors are full. Also - printers with tri-colors often try to compensate with other colors when one color is running low which often wastes ink and photo paper.

Yes, that is true Amanda, however, I don't know if it is a tri-cartridge. I am still investigating. Thank you.

If its $14.99 for one cartridge that has all colors in it, that's probably what you are looking at is a tri-color.
