Okay why is PS & PSE closing????? ARRRGGGHH
Okay I know alot of you are smart techie people...and know your software good...I'm having an issue with Photoshop 7 & PSE2 when I try to browse through my elment folders it just closes.
I'm also having issue when I try to go through windows explorer to the folders with the elements. The explorer will freeze and not show the files then quickly close the window.
I thought okay it might be a memory issue....but i've got 1GB of memory...that should be good right????
I ran the virus scan...no viruses
I ran spy ware scan and removed them...it did not fix the problem.
Does anyone know what might be causing this????
I use Windows XP....and have 2 harddrives and my scratch disks are on the second hard drive...and my programs are all installed on the first one. I have nothing on the second harddrive...just using it for scratch disks.....
HELP PLEASE!!

Windows does the same thing to me. Seems like it started after downloading the MS upgrades. I have been having all kinds of glitches lately, so I am getting a new DELL!! I think this one is about ready to crash on me.

Around November I was having semiliar problems. To the point of thinking I would have to reformat. .For the short time before my machine would shut down I would transfer, got everything off. I ran two different Scanns. One from House Call Which is on line. And I downloade the ex2 upgrade and then was able to load Norton and update. I then found two viruses and since things have settled down. Try running two different scanners .. Oh yes I removed my pop up stopped and adadaware. Don''t know is this is semiliar or not but know you are not alone.

Hope this helps.

PSE2 does the same to me when I try to open a file before all the thumbnails have loaded, it just shuts down. I have now got into the habit of saving before opening a new file, a BIG pain! Would love to know what causes it...

I have DIP9, DIP10, FotoFusion, PSE2, and PSE2 all installed on the same drive. DIP I have always had problems with it closing down on me because of memory. Drives me crazy. I've just learned to save often. No problems with either PSE or FF programs.

I think it's a bug, seriosly. Under certain circumstances it just does that. Is it a common problem? Something that's happening more frequently of a sudden?
Wait for everything to load, save, finish processing before you try to do anything else, see if that helps. For me it's very rare, never really paid much attention to it because it almost never happens.
I have PSCS, PSE2, PSE3 all installed, and it hasn't made any difference

From my reading ( extensive at the adobe forums and other places) -this is an issue with photoshop and xp and it is the very reason that ps cs and pse3 do not support thumbnails - Adobe blame microsoft and vice versa - - I understand it doesnt happen so often if you run operating systems other than xp. I suggest you do as i do - never browse using the pse browser - bad option i know but i rarely get a crash that way. i always use file - open and use the thumbnail view to find the files I want - or use picasa to locate the file and drag it into photoshop.

I've never used the PSE browser. I leave Windows open and I can drag everything from there into PSE, DIP, and FF. Much easier. Don't have Picasa installed. Getting a new DELL in the next couple of days.
