The tao of the gallery

Happy Easter everyone!

I have been taking some tutorials -- just finished one using brushes -- and trying my hand at a few simple layouts. I was wondering when to post to a gallery -- should I do it now? Does anyone critique? Can I ask for that? I mean, I am sure my creations will not inspire anyone at this point, but I'd love some help. My questions boil down to -- why do you put layouts in a gallery if it is not inspirational?

you can use it for anything you like, storage, to share with family, to show off, get help, just whatever you'd like.

but if you want critiques, there's a gallery for that called step it up. i'd suggest you also post in the forum to be sure it's seen because the gallery whizzes by pretty quickly. some like to post every page they make, and others like to wait til they feel better at them. i say just post away!

Of course, I tried posting the page and got the message that the file was too big. I have to figure that one out, but not now as the family is going out! I'll try again tonight while the little one is watching tv.

Welcome! The files for the gallery have to be under 125K. I don't know which program you use, but there are tutorials for how to resize layouts in several programs. Under "Using the DSP website", it's the first one on the right side.

I'm new since Jan. 2008 and it was actually exciting to post my first LO in the gallery. I find it helpful to ask for CC....I've learned a lot by having others take a look at my LOs and offer suggestions.

It has also been fun to compare my first LO to my current LOs...I'm improving, if I do say so myself! LOL

To delete an extra one or change the gallery, click on the "edit photo" link at the bottom of your layout information. To delete, there is a box to check at the bottom of the edit screen, then click "save changes." To move it to a different gallery, there is a drop-down menu. There are A LOT of galleries on there, so you have to scroll through to find the one you want.

When I want my layout in a certain gallery, I usually browse to that gallery first, then click upload photo. It automatically selects the gallery I was just in, so I don't have to go through that LONG list.

btw, I looked at your layout. It is great! You did a great job blending the photo into the background!

P.S. You also post layouts that you've completed for different designer challenges in order to get posting bonuses.
