Organizing supplies??

Hi,

Anyone have any tips for organizing my supplies?
I'm debating whether to separate my kits into individual supplies, or is it easier to work with if I leave them together in the same file (so everything coordinates)?
If I separate them, is there an easy way to view them all so I don't forget what I have when doing a layout?

Thanks!

I keep my files in Kits and organized them by webpage.
It was getting to confusing to figure out which came from where after a while.

I am also using a free program called Picasa to view all my pictures.
Picasa is connected to your Gmail account (also free), you can upload directly from it to a free web gallery and post directly to blogspot.
It also lets you scroll your all your picture files, which is the greatest, because I just scroll and scroll until the right picture or kit comes up

LEAVE THEM TOGETHER!!! Most people I know who once separated all their supplies regret it later on. There have been multiple threads on this topic so do a search in the forums for organization tips.

A lot of people also use ACDSee so look out for info about that in the threads. There is a great website that can help you with it if you decide to go that route.

Oooo - I didn't know that about Picassa posting directly to blogspot, makes sense though! Learn something new everyday here!

Luckygirl - you can also use Picassa to view your kits as well. The only thing I've heard is that when you have a PNG file that the "image" is white, it won't show up in Picassa. Other than that Picassa can be a great free way to view your kits. I also second Tara - keep your kits together. I organize in this fashion. One main directory for ALL my digital kits. A sub-directory for DSP and other sites. Then a sub-directory for each designer with a folder for each kit within in that sub-directory. Ultimately though you have to find an organizing system that works best for you. Hope this helps!

I have them keep together but in folders by designer, and then I use Adobe Bridge to keyword the files so I can bring up all my flowers or ribbons at one time.

I would suggest not separating your kits either. In the very beginning, I did and I ended up deleting them all (they were freebies) and starting over. I think my suggestion will be the same as others. Use a photo organization program. I happen to use ACDSee but any will do. You leave the kits together and then you can assign key words to or categorize all the elements/papers in each kit. In other words, one of my categories is flowers. I can click on that and it will show me all things from every kit that I have tagged to be under that category.
