Have you tried just bumping up the saturation on the greens and blues? I downloaded your pic and played with it a bit and you can do a bunch with that (and upping the Master saturation) and I didn't feel that it looked phony. I don't know how much "punch" you're looking for.

For Black and White Conversions take a look at
Black and white conversions using Elements
With regard to your image, I think putting on a hue/sat layer and gently increasing the saturation, will help I would also be tempted to perhaps tone the sky very slightly.

This is a lovely scene Deacon that imho only needs the saturation boosted a little and a little gradient added to the sky

The graident added to the sky is my favorite of the options people tried out. THAT did make a difference in my opinion, and a good one.

I need some help with these sunset ones. Not too sure, but I think that I might just chuck them if I can't find a fix. Oh well, gives me an excuse to visit the spot again.

Thanks

White balancing
I just read an article in a magazine about white balancing. I can see the difference it makes. I have looked all over my digital camera and don't see an option for that. Can I do that in PSE3?

Your camera (according to Steves DigiCams) has Auto and manual white balance, so check out your manual for the exact instructions.
In PSE3 you can use Enhance, Adjust Colour, Remove Colour Cast, then use the dropper to select something which should be white or grey and it does the rest.

Kathy it will be under your menu, you have the following settings to choose from
• Auto
• Manual preset 1
• Manual preset 2
• Fine
• Shade
• Fluorescent: Daylight bulb
• Fluorescent: Warm White bulb
• Fluorescent: Cool White bulb
• Incandescent
Hope that helps

White balance is something I also need to learn to use. Gotta have a look for it in the manual that I printed out and which is sitting right next to my computer desk right now.
I dug into Macro modes a couple of days ago. Haven't used them yet, but I will.
