Homemade soup is always a main course in our house. Hot soup and crusty bread. Yum!

I make a slaw-type salad that has shredded cabbage, uncooked ramen noodles broken into small pieces, (they soften) and dressing of oil, vinegar, sugar and the seasoning packet from the ramen noodles. The best part.......slivered almonds and sugar which is cooked in a skillet until the sugar melts and the almonds brown up into a delicious almond brittle. They are broken apart and added to the salad right before serving. So yummy.

I even like Brazil nuts. I think the only nut I don't like is chestnut. (Are they really nuts?) They always sounded good. You know......chestnuts roasting on an open fire.....until I had one. Ick.

Actually chestnuts are o.k. if they're roasted and salted .. I'm not allowed to eat any nuts any more - so unfair!
