The two older boys do NOT like mushrooms either! ( REALLY? Or is it just because Daddy doesn't?)
So it's Sat. night and I'm fixing dinner and part of that dinner was fresh, skillet-fried morels. The kids come in from playing and the older boys both say, "Are you frying fish?" Ummmm.................SURE...........I'll go with that! "Well what kind of fish are you cooking?" Ummmmmmmmm................*Wild Fish*!
They sit down to dinner and start pigging out - on the MORELS.................... Finally, after all the oohing and awing over how good they are, Mommy tells them the truth.
You should have seen the look on Rutker's face. (Too bad granny didn't have her camera ready. )
Finally, after raging a battle with himself, he says, "Well, this is the ONLY kind of mushroom I'm ever going to eat!!!"
It was priceless.
We have now properly renamed them as *Forest Fish*!

This is too funny. Morels are the only mushrooms I'll eat unless they are whirled around in my Vitamix so I cannot feel them.

(Too bad our garden potatoes aren't up yet. ) And I'm making Rhubarb Quick Bread, which is nicely growing right outside our back door, so CK didn't have to go far to hunt that down. And for the icing on the cake (almost literally) I'm making Angel Food Cake with peaches, which I will hunt for myself. (I must go into the deep, dark depths of our basement, fight my way to the deep freezer, and stealthily remove a bag from the top shelf. :rofll: ) Might as well use up as much fruit as possible before this year's crops start producing.
So, the moral of the story? I will be spending most of my day in the kitchen.

We have completed the first leg of our trip and are parked in hot and muggy Fort Smith, AR for the night. We will be pulling out early in the morning so we can get to our next stop in time to watch the Spurs game.
